Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:Ohio Welcome Area.jpg
editThis file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Ohio Welcome Area.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

- Both this and the other photo you marked are in public, government-run spaces. They are photographs of the rest area in Ohio that is now linked, but they are not subject to copyright due to their being in a public space and government-produced. Edenaviv5 (talk) 20:51, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- I think you're misunderstanding how copyright works. See below for the deletion discussion page for the two photos. - Eureka Lott 18:04, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm not sure how you want me to source these though? There was no information at the rest stop or online regarding who made the map, for example.
- -- https://www.transportation.ohio.gov/traveling/rest-areas/rest-areas <-- this is the most detailed page I can find, and the laws regarding rest areas do not state anything regarding copyright. & Only their official transportation map (not the one in the rest stop) is copyrighted. Edenaviv5 (talk) 21:55, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
- The issue isn't with your sourcing—it's with the copyrights. Unlike federal government works, items created by most state governments are copyrighted. Please see Commons:Copyright rules by territory/United States#Works by the US Government for more information. If there's no information about the creators, we have to assume that the material is protected by copyright, per COM:PCP. - Eureka Lott 19:17, 12 August 2023 (UTC)

information about "Laundry room in apartment building" picture
edithello,
couldn't find a way to email you soo I'm posting here hope that's okay.
do you know the type/model of the washing machine in the picture? it's a bit blurry when i zoom in soo I'm not sure.
appreciate any help and thanks in advance :) NeoPom42 (talk) 23:27, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi!
- So they were definitely SpeedQueen brand, but I'm not sure the specific model. Unfortunately I no longer live there and those in the picture were also replaced a few months after I took that photo, so I can't check. If you need/want to look into it further, they were the ones with refillable cards but did not yet have app access for refilling. Specifically, you had to refill the card online and then confirm it with a wall-mounted machine in the room (just out of frame). I hope that helps! Edenaviv5 (talk) 23:58, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- yes this is enough, it helps alot!
- thanks for the quick reply too and hope you have a nice day/night :) NeoPom42 (talk) 00:01, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
