Color me surprised, because Tether is at it again, and this time, it's setting its sights on the Middle East. The stablecoin giant is launching a new stablecoin pegged to the United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED). This new move marks Tether's latest addition to its lineup of fiat-pegged assets, which already includes heavyweights like: - The US Dollar (USDT) - Euro (EURT) - Chinese Yuan (CHNT) - Mexican Peso (MXNT) Ok but why does it even matter and why should you care about it? Well, that new Tether strategy is quite interesting to see, since they are basically trying to tap into the digital economy of the UAE. The timing is nothing too surprising either since, since Dubai also approved salary payment in crypto. Logically, these fellas at Tether wanted to take a part of this cake of opportunity by setting their own dedicated stablecoin. Partnering with Phoenix Group, a major Abu Dhabi-based crypto conglomerate, Tether is certainly looking to provide an efficient way for businesses and individuals to transact in AED on a global scale.
