A high-pulse-current injector followed by a short high-gradient X-band linac is considered as a driver for a compact Inverse Compton Scattering source. We show that using a high-power ultrashort pulse laser operating in burst mode and a Fabry-Pérot enhancement cavity, X-rays with flux values over 1013 ph/s and photon energies up to MeV are achievable. A high-pulse-current photoinjector followed by a short high-gradient X-band linac and a Fabry-Pérot enhancement cavity are considered as a driver for a compact Inverse Compton Scattering (ICS) source. Using a high-power ultra-short pulse laser operating in burst mode in a Fabry-Pérot enhancement cavity, we show that outcoming photons with a total flux over 1013 and energies in the MeV range are achievable. An Efficient Optimisation of a Burst Mode-Operated Fabry-Perot Cavity for Compton Light Sources
/ Mușat, Vlad (CERN ; Oxford U.) ; Cormier, Eric (LP2N, Bordeaux) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Santarelli, Giorgio (LP2N, Bordeaux)
The burst mode operation of a Fabry-Perot cavity (FPC) allows for the generation of a high-intensity photon beam in inverse Compton scattering (ICS) sources. The geometry and burst mode parameters of the FPC can be optimised to maximise the scattered photon flux. [...]

The X-Band FEL Collaboration
/ Pfingstner, Juergen (Oslo U.) ; Adli, Erik (Oslo U.) ; Aksoy, Avni (Ankara U., Inst. Accel. Technol.) ; Angal-Kalinin, Deepa (Daresbury) ; Bocchetta, Carlo (Jagiellonian U. The X-band FEL collaboration is currently designing an X-ray free-electron laser based on X-band acceleration technology. Due to the higher accelerating gradients achievable with X-band technology, a X-band normal conducting linac can be shorter and therefore potentially cost efficient than what is achievable with lower frequency structures. CERN’s Compact linear collider (CLIC) will require crab cavities to align the bunches to provide effective head-on collisions. An X-band quasi-TM11 deflecting cavity has been designed and manufactured for testing at CERN’s Xbox-2 high power standalone test stand. [...]

As part of the effort to qualify CLIC accelerating struc-tures prototypes, new X-band test facilities have been built and commissioned at CERN in the last years. In this context, a number of RF components have been designed and manufactured aiming at stable operation above 50 MW peak power and several kW of average power. [...]

R&D; of X-band Accelerating Structure for Compact XFEL at SINAP
/ Fang, Wencheng ; Gu, Qiang ; Zhang, Meng ; Zhao, Zhentang ; Aksoy, Avni ; Yavaş, Omer ; Angal-Kalinin, Deepa ; Clarke, James ; Bocchetta, Carlo ; Wawrzyniak, Adriana et al.
One compact hard X-ray FEL facility is being planned at SINAP, and X-band high gradient accelerating structure is the most competetive scheme for this plan. X-band accelerating structure is designed to switch between 60MV/m and 80MV/m, and carries out 6GeV and 8GeV by 130 meters linac respectively. [...]

Beam-Based Measurements of Long Range Transverse Wakefields in CLIC Main Linac Accelerating Structure

The baseline design of CLIC (Compact Linear Collider) uses X-band accelerating structures in the main linac. Every accelerating structure cell has four waveguides, terminated with individual RF loads, to damp the unwanted long-range transverse wakefields, in order to maintain beam stability in multi-bunch operation.
