High energy rise of the cosmic ray positron fraction : Possible causes / Serpico, Pasquale D (CERN)
In the last year, the PAMELA satellite has suggested an “anomalous” rise with energy of the cosmic ray positron fraction. Several explanations have been proposed: here I recapitulate the basic physics behind astrophysical explanations and summarize the existing issues in interpreting the data via dark matter. [...]

High-energy antiprotons from old supernova remnants / Blasi, Pasquale (Arcetri Observ.) ; Serpico, Pasquale D. (CERN)
A recently proposed model (arXiv:0903.2794) explains the rise in energy of the positron fraction measured by the PAMELA satellite in terms of hadronic production of positrons in aged supernova remnants, and acceleration therein. Here we present a preliminary calculation of the anti-proton flux produced by the same mechanism. [...]

Possible causes of a rise with energy of the cosmic ray positron fraction / Serpico, Pasquale Dario (CERN)
Based on general considerations rather than model-dependent fits to specific scenarios, we argue that an increase with energy of the positron fraction in cosmic rays, suggested by several experiments at E>~10 GeV, most likely requires a primary source of electron-positron pairs. We discuss the possible alternatives, and find none of them plausible on astrophysical or particle physics grounds. [...]

Pulsars as the Sources of High Energy Cosmic Ray Positrons / Hooper, Dan (Chicago U., Astron. Astrophys. Ctr. ; Fermilab) ; Blasi, Pasquale (Arcetri Observ. ; Fermilab ; Gran Sasso) ; Serpico, Pasquale Dario (CERN ; Fermilab)
Recent preliminary results from the PAMELA satellite indicate the presence of a large flux of positrons (relative to electrons) in the cosmic ray spectrum between approximately 10 and 50 GeV. As annihilating dark matter particles in many models are predicted to contribute to the cosmic ray positron spectrum in this energy range, a great deal of interest has resulted from this observation. Ultra-high energy cosmic ray autocorrelation function after Auger / Dario Serpico, Pasquale (CERN)
We report results of a global autocorrelation analysis of the Auger data, with the aim to constrain the number density ns of ultrahigh energy cosmic ray (UHECR) sources, estimating at the same time the effect of the bias of UHECR sources and of the systematic energy scale uncertainty on ns. The data show no significant small-scale clustering which may be explained by magnetic deflections over scales of a few degrees. [...]

Dark Matter "Transporting" Mechanism Explaining Positron Excesses / Kim, Doojin (CERN) ; Park, Jong-Chul (Chungnam Natl. U.) ; Shin, Seodong (Yonsei U. ; Chicago U., EFI)
We propose a novel mechanism to explain the positron excesses, which are observed by satellite-based telescopes including PAMELA and AMS-02, in dark matter (DM) scenarios. The novelty behind the proposal is that it makes direct use of DM around the Galactic Center where DM populates most densely, allowing us to avoid tensions from cosmological and astrophysical measurements.
