Simulation results for crystal collimation experiment in SPS UA9 / Laface, E (CERN) ; Scandale, Walter (CERN) ; Cavoto, G (INFN, Rome) ; Peggs, S (Brookhaven)
The UA9 experiment will first take place in 2009 at the CERN-SPS and will evaluate the feasibility of silicon crystals as primary collimators for a storage ring. A crystal placed at 6 σ from the beam core will deviate protons towards two Roman Pots and a tungsten absorber (TAL). [...]

Crystal Collimation efficiency measured with the Medipix detector in SPS UA9 experiment. / Laface, E (CERN) ; Scandale, W (CERN) ; Tlustos, L (CERN) ; Ippolito, V (INFN, Rome)
The UA9 experiment was performed in 6 MDs from May to November 2009 with the goal of studying the collimation properties of a crystal in the framework of a future exploitation in the LHC collimation system. An important parameter evaluated for the characterization of the crystal collimation is the efficiency of halo extraction when the crystal is in channeling mode. [...]

The UA9 Experiment at the CERN-SPS / Losito, R (CERN) ; Laface, E (CERN) ; Scandale, W (CERN)
The UA9 experiment intends to assess the possibility of using bent silicon crystals as primary collimators to direct coherently the beam halo onto the secondary absorber, thus reducing out-scattering, beam losses in critical regions and radiation load. The experiment will be performed in the CERN-SPS in storage mode with a 120 or 270 GeV/c proton beam. [...]

Preliminary results of the crystal collimation test in UA9 / Mirarchi, Daniele (INFN, Rome) ; Cavoto, Gianluca (INFN, Rome) ; Losito, Roberto (CERN) ; Scandale, Walter (CERN) ; Taratin, Alexander (Dubna, JINR)
We present a detailed analysis of the beam loss data collected at the SPS during the 2009 machine developments devoted to test crystal collimation. Scintillator counters and GEM detectors were installed in special points to detect the effect of inelastic interaction of protons with the crystals in various orientation with respect to the beam [...]

The UA9 experimental equipment was installed in the CERN-SPS in March '09 with the aim of investigating crystal assisted collimation in coasting mode. Its basic layout comprises silicon bent crystals acting as primary collimators mounted inside two vacuum vessels. [...]

Crystals Application in the TOTEM Experiment to Increase the Acceptance of a Roman Pot / Laface, E (CERN) ; Hasan, S (Insubria U., Como) ; Santoni, C (Clermont-Ferrand U.) ; Scandale, Walter (CERN)
Bent crystal may enhance the physics reach of a near-beam physics detector in the CERN-LHC, by increasing the acceptance of scattered protons in low transverse momentum reactions. As an example we present simulations demonstrating the increase of the Roman Pot acceptance in the TOTEM apparatus. [...]
