The Construction of the Low-beta Triplets for the LHC / CERN-Fermilab-KEK Collaboration
The performance of the LHC depends critically on the low-b triplets, located on either side of the four interaction points. Each triplet consists of four superconducting quadrupole magnets, which must operate reliably at up to 215 T/m, sustain high heat loads and have an excellent field quality. [...]

Low-beta Quadrupole Designs for the LHC Luminosity Upgrade / Ostojic, Ranko ; Catalan-Lasheras, Nuria ; Kirby, Glyn ; Russenschuck, Stephan
Several scenarios are considered for the upgrade of the LHC insertions in view of increasing the luminosity beyond 1034 cm-2s-1. In the case of “quadrupole first” option, superconducting low-b quadrupoles with apertures in the range of 90-110 mm are required in view of increased heat loads and beam crossing angles. [...]

Study of time dependent magnetic field variation due to current redistribution in Rutherford cable / Sugita, Kei ; Ogitsu, T ; Ohuchi, Norihito ; Nakamoto, Tatsushi ; Shintomi, Takakazu ; Tsuchiya, Kiyosumi ; Yamamoto, Akira
Time-varying magnetic field quality of superconducting accelerator magnets is a important issue of accelerator operation at particle injection. This is induced by magnetization changes of superconductors due to redistributions of imbalance current of superconducting strands in cables. [...]

An upgrade of the low-beta insertion system for the ATLAS and Compact Muon Solenoid experiments is proposed in the high luminosity Large Hadron Collider upgrade project. It includes final beam focusing quadrupoles, beam separation and recombination dipoles, and larger aperture matching section quadrupoles. [...]

The High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider upgrade (LHC) project aims to increase the peak luminosity of the LHC to 5 ×10^34 cm ^- 2s ^- 1, and a total integrated luminosity of 3000 fb ^- 1 from 2020 to 2030 by upgrading the low-beta insertion system for the ATLAS and CMS experiments. The aperture of the insertion magnets including the focusing/defocusing quadrupoles and separation dipoles will be doubled to achieve a smaller β*. [...]
