On the use of fluxmetric methods for characterizing feebly magnetic materials / Arpaia, Pasquale (U. Naples (main)) ; Liccardo, Annalisa (U. Naples (main)) ; Buzio, Marco (CERN) ; Parrella, Alessandro (IST, Lisbon (main))
The problems related to the use of a split-coil permeameter for measuring the magnetic properties of materials with low relative permeability are faced. In particular, a challenging problem arises from the series production of steel tapes: magnetic and paramagnetic materials, in fact, exhibit different magnetic properties according to the production process (i.e. [...]

Characterization of Magnetic Steels for the FCC-ee Magnet Prototypes / Anglada, Jaime R (CERN) ; Arpaia, Pasquale (Naples U.) ; Buzio, Marco (CERN) ; Pentella, Mariano (Turin Polytechnic) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN)
At the European Organization for the Nuclear Research (CERN), several efforts were combined for a preliminary design of a new accelerator, the Future Circular Collider (FCC), a 100-TeV double-ring hadron collider to be installed in a 100-km tunnel. As potential intermediate step, a high-luminosity lepton collider called FCC-ee is foreseen with more than 9,000 magnets. [...]

A Superconducting Permeameter for Characterizing Soft Magnetic Materials at High Fields / Arpaia, Pasquale (Naples U., Ist. Elettrotecnica) ; Buzio, Marco (CERN) ; Izquierdo Bermudez, Susana (CERN) ; Liccardo, Annalisa (Naples U., Ist. Elettrotecnica) ; Parrella, Alessandro (CERN) ; Pentella, Mariano (Naples U., Ist. Elettrotecnica) ; Ramos, Pedro M (Lisbon, IST) ; Stubberud, Edvard (Norwegian U. Sci. Tech.)
A superconducting permeameter is proposed to characterize the magnetic properties of high-energy superconducting magnet yokes at their operating temperature and saturation level. The main problem of superconducting coils, an undesired quench, was faced by specific protection simulations, which has led to a self-protected system. [...]

Magnetic Properties of Pure Iron for the Upgrade of the LHC Superconducting Dipole and Quadrupole Magnets / Parrella, A (U. Naples (main) ; CERN ; IST, Lisbon (main)) ; Arpaia, P (U. Naples (main) ; CERN) ; Buzio, M (CERN) ; Liccardo, A (U. Naples (main)) ; Pentella, M (U. Naples (main) ; CERN) ; Principe, R (CERN) ; Ramos, P M (IST, Lisbon (main))
The construction of the superconducting magnets for the High-Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider accelerator at Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire has resulted in demands for 1800 tons of ferromagnetic laminations for the magnet iron yokes. The magnetic properties of the selected steel, ARMCO Pure Iron, have been measured, within annealing treatment sequences from 750 °C to 850 °C, at operation temperatures of 4-300 K. [...]
