Collisional Energy Loss of Fast Charged Particles in Relativistic Plasmas / Thoma, Markus H. (CERN)
Following an argument by Kirzhnits we rederive an exact expression for the energy loss of a fast charged particle in a relativistic plasma using the quantum field theoretical language. We compare this result to perturbative calculations of the collisional energy loss of an energetic electron or muon in an electron-positron plasma and of an energetic parton in the quark-gluon plasma..

Synchrotron radiation energy loss distribution / Giani, S ; Bagulya, A V ; Grichine, V M
A general expression, describing fluctuations of the energy loss on synchrotron radiation produced by an ultra-relativistic electron moving along a trajectory of a fixed length in at magnetic field, is derived. It is shown that in the case of uniform magnetic field, when the number of the synchrotron radiation photons is more than unity, these fluctuations are described by the Gauss distribution. [...]

An implementation of ionisation energy loss in very thin absorbers for the GEANT4 simulation package / Apostolakis, John ; Giani, S ; Urbàn, L ; Maire, M ; Bagulya, A V ; Grichine, V M
We discuss an implementation of Photo Absorption Ionisation model describing ionisation energy loss produced by a relativistic charged particle in very thin absorbers. The implementation allows us to calculate ionisation energy losses in any material consisting of elements with atomic numbers in the range 1-100. [...]

Beam-cavity interaction in electron storage rings / Keil, Eberhard ; Pellegrini, C ; Sessler, Andrew M ; Turrin, A
A formal expression is obtained for the energy loss per turn, of a rigid bunch of electrons, to a closed cylindrical cavity with quality factor Q. The expression is valid provided the diameter of the entrance and exit ports for the beam are small compared to the bunch length. [...]

Mean-field effects on flows in relativistic heavy-ion collisions / Isse, M ; Chiba, S (ed.) ; Maruyama, T ; Nara, Y ; Ohnishi, A ; Otuka, N ; Sahu, P K
At RHIC experiments, started at 2000, the data obtained recently seem to exhibit quark-gluon plasma formation, but the conclusion has not been drawn yet. Here, we pay our attention to collective flows at hadronic freeze-out as evidence of QGP formation. [...]

Reduction of the ionization loss distribution width of several simultaneous relativistic particles traversing a scintillation counter / Aderholz, M ; Lehraus, Ivan ; Matthewson, R
A Poisson distribution of number of electrons at the input stages of a photomultiplier has been folded into a Landau-Symon distribution of ionization losses in a plastic scintillator and a distribution of the smallest value out of n detectors was derived analytically for m simultaneous particles. A group of four identical scintillation counters was constructed and the smallest of the four output pulses was used for selective triggering of the bubble chamber flash with the greater precision engendered by the considerably reduced distribution width. Can one understand stopping in heavy ion collisions without an anomalous mechanism? / Capella, A
We show that the baryon stopping observed in heavy ion collisions both at CERN-SPS and at RHIC can be understood using the same mechanism as in proton-proton collisions. No increase in the size of the baryon junction component is required between small size (pp) and large size (AA) systems. [...]
