Distinguishing Elliptic Fibrations with AI / He, Yang-Hui (University Coll. London ; Merton Coll., Oxford ; Nankai U.) ; Lee, Seung-Joo (CERN)
We use the latest techniques in machine-learning to study whether from the landscape of Calabi-Yau manifolds one can distinguish elliptically fibred ones. Using the dataset of complete intersections in products of projective spaces (CICY3 and CICY4, totalling about a million manifolds) as a concrete playground, we find that a relatively simple neural network with forward-feeding multi-layers can very efficiently distinguish the elliptic fibrations, much more so than using the traditional methods of manipulating the defining equations. Machine Learning String Standard Models / Deen, Rehan (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; He, Yang-Hui (Nankai U. ; London, City U. ; Merton Coll., Oxford) ; Lee, Seung-Joo (IBS, Daejeon ; CERN) ; Lukas, Andre (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.)
We study machine learning of phenomenologically relevant properties of string compactifications, which arise in the context of heterotic line bundle models. Both supervised and unsupervised learning are considered. [...]

Fibrations in CICY Threefolds / Anderson, Lara B. (Virginia Tech., Blacksburg) ; Gao, Xin (Virginia Tech., Blacksburg) ; Gray, James (Virginia Tech., Blacksburg) ; Lee, Seung-Joo (Virginia Tech., Blacksburg ; CERN)
In this work we systematically enumerate genus one fibrations in the class of 7,890 Calabi-Yau manifolds defined as complete intersections in products of projective spaces, the so-called CICY threefolds. This survey is independent of the description of the manifolds and improves upon past approaches that probed only a particular algebraic form of the threefolds (i.e. [...]

The Master Space of $N$=1 Gauge Theories / Forcella, Davide (SISSA, Trieste ; INFN, Trieste ; CERN) ; Hanany, Amihay (Technion ; Imperial Coll., London) ; He, Yang-Hui (Merton Coll., Oxford ; Oxford U. ; Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Zaffaroni, Alberto (Milan Bicocca U. ; INFN, Milan Bicocca)
The full moduli space M of a class of N=1 supersymmetric gauge theories is studied. For gauge theories living on a stack of D3-branes at Calabi-Yau singularities X, M is a combination of the mesonic and baryonic branches, the former being the symmetric product of X. [...]

Classifying Calabi-Yau threefolds using infinite distance limits / Grimm, Thomas W. (Utrecht U.) ; Ruehle, Fabian (CERN ; Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; van de Heisteeg, Damian (Utrecht U.)
We present a novel way to classify Calabi-Yau threefolds by systematically studying their infinite volume limits. Each such limit is at infinite distance in Kahler moduli space and can be classified by an associated limiting mixed Hodge structure. [...]

Six-dimensional Origin of $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM with Duality Defects / Assel, Benjamin (CERN ; King's Coll. London, Dept. Math) ; Schäfer-Nameki, Sakura (Oxford U., Inst. Math. ; King's Coll. London, Dept. Math)
We study the topologically twisted compactification of the 6d $(2,0)$ M5-brane theory on an elliptically fibered K\"ahler three-fold preserving two supercharges. We show that upon reducing on the elliptic fiber, the 4d theory is $\mathcal{N}=4$ Super-Yang Mills, with varying complexified coupling $\tau$, in the presence of defects. [...]

Geodesics in the extended Kähler cone of Calabi-Yau threefolds / Brodie, Callum R. (IPhT, Saclay) ; Constantin, Andrei (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Lukas, Andre (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Ruehle, Fabian (Oxford U., Theor. Phys. ; CERN)
We present a detailed study of the effective cones of Calabi-Yau threefolds with $h^{1,1}=2$, including the possible types of walls bounding the Kähler cone and a classification of the intersection forms arising in the geometrical phases. For all three normal forms in the classification we explicitly solve the geodesic equation and use this to study the evolution near Kähler cone walls and across flop transitions in the context of M-theory compactifications. Swampland Bounds on the Abelian Gauge Sector / Lee, Seung-Joo (CERN) ; Weigand, Timo (CERN ; Mainz U., Inst. Phys. ; U. Mainz, PRISMA)
We derive bounds on the number of abelian gauge group factors in six-dimensional gravitational theories with minimal supersymmetry and in their F-theoretic realisations. These bounds follow by requiring consistency of certain BPS strings in the spectrum of the theory, as recently proposed in the literature. [...]

Primordial Kerr Black Holes / Arbey, Alexandre (IP2I, Lyon ; IUF, Paris ; CERN) ; Auffinger, Jérémy (IP2I, Lyon) ; Silk, Joseph (Paris, Inst. Astrophys. ; Johns Hopkins U. ; Oxford U.)
Primordial Black Holes (PBHs) are appealing candidates for dark matter in the universe but are severely constrained by theoretical and observational constraints. We will focus on the Hawking evaporation limits extended to Kerr black holes. [...]

Machine-Learning Algebraic & Geometric Structures: Implications to String Pheno / He, Yang-Hui (speaker) (City University London)
We report some recent experiments in machine-learning applied to various mathematical problems such as computing Hodge numbers, recognizing elliptic fibrations, distinguishing finite simple groups, etc., many of which have direct consequences in string phenomenology. The mysterious success of the ML, often bypassing traditional expensive algorithms, potentially suggests hithertofore unseen structures..
