Analysis of uncoated LPGs written in B-Ge doped fiber under proton irradiation for sensing applications at CERN / Berruti, Gaia Maria (CERN ; Sannio U.) ; Vaiano, Patrizio (Sannio U.) ; Quero, Giuseppe (Sannio U.) ; Pimentel Das Neves, Tiago Filipe (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Boniello, Alessandra (Sannio U.) ; Consales, Marco (Sannio U.) ; Petagna, Paolo (CERN) ; Cusano, Andrea (Sannio U.)
In this contribution, a complete dissertation concerning the behavior of a Long Period Grating (LPG) inscribed in a B-Ge co-doped optical fiber by means of an excimer laser and exposed to proton irradiation during a recent extensive campaign performed at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) with a fluence of 4.4·10$^{15}$ p∙cm$^{−2}$ is provided. The experimental results have been thus combined for the first time to the best of our knowledge with numerical simulations in order to estimate the variations of the major parameters affecting the grating response during the ultra-high dose proton exposure. In this contribution, the response of a Long Period Grating (LPG) inscribed in a B/Ge co-doped optical fiber exposed to proton irradiation is presented for the first time to the best of our knowledge. The experiment was performed in the proton irradiation facility at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and lasted 146 hours. [...]

Measurement of the muon flux at the SND@LHC experiment / SND@LHC Collaboration
The Scattering and Neutrino Detector at the LHC (\SND) is a compact standalone experiment, which started taking data at the beginning of Run 3 of the LHC. The experiment is designed to perform measurements with neutrinos produced in proton-proton collisions at the LHC in an energy range between~100~GeV and~1~TeV, and a previously unexplored pseudo-rapidity range of \mbox{$7.2<\eta<8.4$} [...]

Beam steering performance of bent silicon crystals irradiated with high-intensity and high-energy protons / Scandale, W (CERN) ; Calviani, M (CERN) ; D'Andrea, M (CERN) ; Esposito, L S (CERN) ; Garattini, Marco (CERN ; Imperial Coll., London) ; Gilardoni, S (CERN) ; Montesano, S (CERN) ; Natochii, A (CERN ; Orsay, LAL ; Taras Shevchenko U.) ; Rossi, R (CERN) ; Smirnov, G I (CERN ; Dubna, JINR) et al.
Beam steering performance of bent silicon crystals irradiated with high-intensity and high-energy protons has been studied. In particular, crystals of the type used for collimation and extraction purposes in the Large Hadron Collider and the Super Proton Synchrotron at CERN have been irradiated at the HiRadMat CERN facility with $2.5 \times 10^{13}$ 440 GeV/c protons, with a pulse length of 7.2 $\upmu $s. Fiber optic sensors in the ATLAS Inner Detector / Scherino, L (CERN ; Sannio U.) ; Schioppa, E J (CERN ; INFN, Lecce) ; Arapova, A (Quebec U., INRS) ; Berruti, G M (Sannio U.) ; Bock, W J (Quebec U., INRS) ; Boniello, A (Sannio U.) ; Borriello, A (ENEA, Portici) ; Campopiano, S (Naples U.) ; Consales, M (Sannio U.) ; Cusano, A (Sannio U.) et al.
A prototype system of Fiber Optic Sensors (FOS) for the accurate measurement of temperature and relative humidity, has been installed inside the Inner Detector volume of the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The goal is to evaluate the behavior of the technology against radiation effects, and possibly to assess its suitability for future collider experiments, starting from HL-LHC. [...]

Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor as Valuable Technological Platform for New Generation of Superconducting Magnets / Chiuchiolo, A (Sannio U. ; CERN) ; Consales, M (Sannio U.) ; Cusano, A (Sannio U.) ; Bajko, M (CERN) ; Perez, J C (CERN) ; Bajas, H (CERN) ; Viret, P (CERN) ; Giordano, M (ICBM, CNR, Portici) ; Breglio, G (U. Naples (main))
New generation of superconducting magnets for high energy applications designed, manufactured and tested at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) require the implementation of reliable sensors able to monitor the mechanical stresses affecting the winding from fabrication to operation in magnetic field of 13 T. This work deals with the embedding of Fiber Bragg Grating sensors in a short model Nb$_{3}$Sn dipole magnet in order to monitor the strain developed in the coil during the cool down to 1.9 K, the powering up to 15.8 kA and the warm up, offering perspectives for the replacement of standard strain gauges..

The neutron capture reactions of the$^{244}$ Cm and$^{246}$ Cm isotopes open the path for the formation of heavier Cm isotopes and of heavier elements such as Bk and Cf in a nuclear reactor. In addition, both isotopes belong to the minor actinides with a large contribution to the decay heat and to the neutron emission in irradiated fuels proposed for the transmutation of nuclear waste and fast critical reactors.
