Contribution of Optical Aberrations to Spot-size Increase with Bunch Intensity at ATF2 / Patecki, Marcin (CERN ; Warsaw U. of Tech.) ; Kubo, Kiyoshi (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Kuroda, Shigeru (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Naito, Takashi (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Okugi, Toshiyuki (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Tauchi, Toshiaki (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Terunuma, Nobuhiro (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Tomás, Rogelio (CERN) ; White, Glen (SLAC) ; Zimmermann, Frank (CERN)
A primary goal of ATF2 (Accelerator Test Facility) is to demonstrate a low vertical beam size at the interaction point (IP) of about 37 nm. Measurements over the past years indicate that the ATF2 vertical beam size strongly rises with bunch intensity. [...]

Progress in Ultra-Low β* Study at ATF2 / Patecki, Marcin (CERN) ; Bett, Douglas (CERN) ; Kubo, Kiyoshi (KEK, Tsukuba ; Sokendai, Tsukuba) ; Kuroda, Shigeru (KEK, Tsukuba ; Sokendai, Tsukuba) ; Naito, Takashi (KEK, Tsukuba ; Sokendai, Tsukuba) ; Okugi, Toshiyuki (KEK, Tsukuba ; Sokendai, Tsukuba) ; Plassard, Fabien (CERN) ; Tauchi, Toshiaki (KEK, Tsukuba ; Sokendai, Tsukuba) ; Terunuma, Nobuhiro (KEK, Tsukuba ; Sokendai, Tsukuba) ; Tomás, Rogelio (CERN)
A nanometer beam size in the interaction point (IP) is required in case of future linear colliders for achieving the desired rate of particle collisions. KEK Accelerator Test Facility (ATF2), a scaled down implementation of the beam delivery system (BDS), serves for investigating the limits of electron beam focusing at the interaction point. [...]

Towards Ultra-Low β* in ATF2 / Patecki, Marcin (CERN) ; Aloev, Alexander (CERN) ; Bett, Douglas (CERN) ; Kubo, Kiyoshi (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Marín, Eduardo (SLAC) ; Modena, Michele (CERN) ; Okugi, Toshiyuki (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Tauchi, Toshiaki (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Terunuma, Nobuhiro (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Tomás, Rogelio (CERN) et al.
The Accelerator Test Facility 2 (ATF2) has already demonstrated the feasibility of Final Focus Systems based on the local chromaticity correction scheme and its focusing capabilities by reaching a vertical beam size at the virtual Interaction Point (IP) of less than 50 nm. The value of the chromaticity in ATF2 is comparable with the expected chromaticity in ILC, but 4 times lower than in a design of CLIC. [...]

Ground motion compensation using feed-forward control is a novel technique being developed to combat beam imperfections resulting from the vibration-induced misalignment of beamline components. The method is being evaluated experimentally at the KEK Accelerator Test Facility 2 (ATF2). [...]

Improving the Performance of an Orbit Feed-forward Based on Quadrupole Motion at the KEK ATF / Bett, Douglas (CERN) ; Burrows, Philip (JAI, Oxford) ; Charrondière, Cedric (CERN) ; Christian, Glenn (JAI, Oxford) ; Jeremie, Andrea (Annecy, LAPP) ; Kubo, Kiyoshi (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Kuroda, Shigeru (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Naito, Takashi (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Okugi, Toshiyuki (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Patecki, Marcin (CERN) et al.
The high luminosity requirement for a future linear collider sets a demanding limit on the beam quality at the Interation Point (IP). Even the natural motion of the ground could misalign the quadrupole magnets to such an extent that the resulting dipole kicks would require compensation. [...]

Scenarios for the ATF2 Ultra-Low Betas Proposal / Marin, E (CERN) ; Tomas, R (CERN) ; Parker, B (Brookhaven) ; Bambade, P (Orsay, LAL) ; Kuroda, S (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Okugi, T (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Tauchi, T (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Terunuma, N (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Urakawa, J (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Seryi, A (SLAC) et al.
The currentATF2 Ultra-Low beta proposalwas designed to achieve 20nm vertical IP beam size without considering the multipolar components of the FD magnets. In this paper we describe different scenarios that avoid the detrimental effect of these multipolar errors to the beam size at the interaction point (IP). [...]

A Sub-Micron Resolution, Bunch-by-Bunch Beam Trajectory Feedback System and Its Application to Reducing Wakefield Effects in Single-Pass Beamlines / Bett, Douglas R (Oxford U.) ; Burrows, Philip N (Oxford U.) ; Kubo, Kiyoshi (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Okugi, Toshiyuki (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Perry, Colin (Oxford U.) ; Ramjiawan, Rebecca (Oxford U.) ; Terunuma, Nobuhiro (KEK, Tsukuba)
A high-precision intra-bunch-train beam orbit feedback correction system has been developed and tested at the KEK Accelerator Test Facility, ATF2. The system uses the vertical position of the bunch measured at two beam position monitors to calculate a pair of kicks which are applied to the next bunch using two upstream kickers, thereby correcting both the vertical position and trajectory angle.
