Neutron-induced fission cross section of U234 measured at the CERN n_TOF facility / Karadimos, D ; Vlastou, R ; Ioannidis, K ; Demetriou, P ; Diakaki, M ; Vlachoudis, V (CERN) ; Pavlopoulos, P ; Konovalov, V ; Abbondanno, U ; Aerts, G et al.
The neutron-induced fission cross section of U234 has been measured at the CERN n_TOF facility relative to the standard fission cross section of U235 from 20 keV to 1.4 MeV and of U238 from 1.4 to 200 MeV. A fast ionization chamber (FIC) was used as a fission fragment detector with a detection efficiency of no less than 97%. [...]

Neutron-induced fission cross section of Np237 in the keV to MeV range at the CERN n_TOF facility / Diakaki, M ; Karadimos, D ; Vlastou, R ; Kokkoris, M ; Demetriou, P ; Skordis, E ; Tsinganis, A ; Abbondanno, U ; Aerts, G ; Álvarez, H et al.
The neutron-induced fission cross section of Np237 was experimentally determined at the high-resolution and high-intensity facility n_TOF, at CERN, in the energy range 100 keV to 9 MeV, using the U235(n,f) and U238(n,f) cross section standards below and above 2 MeV, respectively. A fast ionization chamber was used in order to detect the fission fragments from the reactions and the targets were characterized as far as their mass and homogeneity are concerned by means of α spectroscopy and Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy respectively. Fission measurements with PPAC detectors using a coincidence technique / Paradela, C (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Duran, I (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Tarrio, D (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Audouin, L (Orsay, IPN) ; Tassan-Got, L (Orsay, IPN) ; Stephan, C (Orsay, IPN) /n_TOF
A fission detection setup based on Parallel Plate Avalanche Counters (PPAC) has been constructed and used at the CERN n_TOF facility. The setup takes advantage of the coincidence detection of both fission fragments to discriminate the background reactions produced by high energy neutrons and it allows obtaining neutron-induced fission cross section up to 1 GeV..

Fission cross-section measurements with the Fast Ionization Chamber (FIC) at the CERN n\_TOF facility were challenged by intense signals due to gamma-rays and ultra-relativistic particles from the impact of the 20 GeV proton pulses on the neutron spallation target. A method for analyzing the data taken with Flash Analog to Digital Converters (FADC) was developed to treat these problems in an automated way to provide a reliable background subtraction and a fit routine for identifying fission events even at high energies. Measurement of the (236)U(n, f) Cross Section at n_TOF / Sarmento, R (ITN, Sacavem) ; Goncalves, I F (ITN, Sacavem) ; Vaz, P (ITN, Sacavem) ; Colonna, N (INFN, Bari) ; Calviani, M (CERN)
A precise knowledge of the (236)U neutron-induced fission cross-section is required for the development of accelerator-driven systems and reactors based on the Th-U cycle. The evaluated data presently stored in the nuclear data libraries rely on outdated experimental measurements and show large discrepancies in the energy region between 1 keV and 100 keV. [...]

Neutron-induced fission cross sections of 233U and 243Am in the energy range 0.5 Mev En 20 MeV @ n_TOF / n_TOF Collaboration
Neutron-induced fission cross-sections of actinides have been recently measured at the neutron time of flight facility n_TOF at CERN in the frame of a research project involving isotopes relevant for nuclear astrophysics and nuclear technologies. Fission fragments are detected by a gas counter with good discrimination between nuclear fission products and background events. [...]
