Introducing modern particle detectors in the classroom: a slice-by-slice overview / Duggan, Ruadh (CERN ; Utrecht U.) ; Chatzidaki, Panagiota (CERN ; Uppsala U.) ; Boselli, Margherita (CERN) ; Dahlkemper, Merten Nikolay (CERN ; Gottingen U.) ; Durey, Guillaume (CERN) ; Herff, Niklas (CERN) ; Horvat, Anja Kranjc (CERN) ; Scheerer, Gernot Werner (CERN) ; Schmeling, Sascha (CERN) ; Thill, Patrick Georges (CERN) et al.
This paper aims to provide a basis for teachers interested in bringing modern particle detectors into their classrooms. In particular, it gives an overview of the basic principles of modern particle detectors, linking them to concepts that are already a part of the curriculum. [...]

An integrated flux-symmetric spectrometer-magnet system for the SND@LHC experiment upgrade / SND@LHC Collaboration
The proposed upgrade of the SND@LHC experiment for the High Luminosity phase of the LHC (HL-LHC) will strongly benefit from the presence of a magnetized region, allowing for muon momentum and chargemeasurement. In this paper we describe an iron core magnet system that is partly integrated with the calorimeter and that is designed to respect the strict constraints from the available space in the experimental cavern, power consumption, and field requirements.Semi-analytical tools are introduced to explore the parameter space, in order to define the primary design options. Precision calibration of calorimeter signals in the ATLAS experiment using an uncertainty-aware neural network / ATLAS Collaboration
The ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider explores the use of modern neural networks for a multi-dimensional calibration of its calorimeter signal defined by clusters of topologically connected cells (topo-clusters). [...]

Towards Machine-Learning Particle Flow with the ATLAS Detector at the LHC / Clissa, Luca (Universita e INFN, Bologna (IT)) ; Swiatlowski, Maximilian J (TRIUMF (CA)) ; Vivarelli, Iacopo (Universita e INFN, Bologna (IT)) ; Bohm, Jessica (TRIUMF (CA)) ; Jovanovic, Marko ; Himmens, Joshua Jon (TRIUMF (CA)) /ATLAS Collaboration
Particle flow reconstruction at colliders combines various detector subsystems (typically the calorimeter and tracker) to provide a combined event interpretation that utilizes the strength of each detector. The accurate association of redundant measurements of the same particle between detectors is the key challenge in this technique. [...]

Enhancement of System Observability During System-Level Radiation Testing Through Total Current Consumption Monitoring / Slipukhin, Ivan (CERN) ; Coronetti, Andrea (CERN) ; Alía, Rubén García (CERN) ; Saigné, Frédéric (IES, Montpellier) ; Boch, Jérôme (IES, Montpellier) ; Dilillo, Luigi (IES, Montpellier) ; Aguiar, Ygor Q (CERN) ; Cazzaniga, Carlo ; Kastriotou, Maria ; Dodd, Torran
System-level testing of electronics is an affordable method of assessment of the performance of complete electronic systems designed for applications in the radiation environment. Compared to component-level testing, system-level test offers a much smaller degree of observability about the performance of particular system elements. [...]

The TORCH time-of-flight detector for Upgrade II of the LHCb experiment / Blake, T (Warwick U.) ; Cicala, F (Warwick U.) ; Conneely, T (Unlisted, UK) ; Cussans, D (Bristol U.) ; Davidson, A (Warwick U.) ; Frei, C (CERN) ; Forty, R (CERN) ; Gao, R (Oxford U.) ; Gershon, T (Warwick U.) ; Gys, T (CERN) et al.
The TORCH (Time Of internally Reflected Cherenkov light) detector is proposed for the high-luminosity UpgradeII of the LHCb experiment. The aim of TORCH is to measure time-of-flight with a 15ps resolution per charged-particle, providing particle identification over the momentum range 2–15GeV/c. [...]

Enhancing Prompt Lepton Identification: Development and Optimization of the PLIT Tagger / Maricic, Ema (University of Belgrade (RS))
Within the ATLAS Experiment the Prompt Lepton Isolation Tagger (PLIT) has been developed to serve as an essential tool to distinguish between prompt muons originating from the decays of the Higgs, W and Z bosons and non-prompt muons generated in the semi-leptonic decays of b- and c-hadrons. [...]
