Effects of High Fluence Particle Irradiation on Germanium-on-Silicon Photodiodes
/ Olanterä, Lauri (CERN) ; Scarcella, Carmelo (CERN) ; Lalović, Milana (CERN ; Belgrade U.) ; Détraz, Stéphane (CERN) ; Pandey, Awanish (CERN) ; Prousalidi, Theoni (CERN ; Natl. Tech. U., Athens) ; Sandven, Ulrik (CERN) ; Sigaud, Christophe (CERN) ; Soós, Csaba (CERN) ; Troska, Jan (CERN)
Waveguide-Integrated Germanium-on-Silicon (Ge-on-Si) photodiodes are integral components in silicon photonics and understanding their radiation tolerance is important for applications that intend to use silicon photonics in harsh radiation environments. Here we report the results of high fluence particle irradiation tests on Ge-on-Si photodiodes. [...]

Comparative Analysis of Resistive Dipole Accelerator Magnets for a Muon Collider
/ Breschi, M (U. Bologna (main)) ; Cavallucci, L (U. Bologna (main)) ; Miceli, R (U. Bologna (main)) ; Ribani, P L (U. Bologna (main)) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Boattini, F (CERN) ; Fabbri, S (CERN) ; Gersem, H De (Darmstadt, Tech. U.)
This work focuses on the design of resistive dipole accelerator magnets for the Muon Collider accelerator under study in the frame of the International Muon Collider Cooperation (IMCC) and with the participation of the European Union (MuCol program). The design specifications require that these dipoles are subjected to very fast ramps, with ramp times in the range from 1 ms to 10 ms. [...]

Proof-of-Principle of an Energy-Efficient, Iron-Dominated Electromagnet for Physics Experiments
/ Devred, A (CERN) ; Ballarino, A (CERN) ; Bourcey, N (CERN) ; Mangiarotti, F (CERN) ; Milanese, A (CERN) ; Petrone, C (CERN)
A number of physics experiments call for the use of iron-dominated, normal-conducting electromagnets to produce moderate fields (2 T range) in a large gap or over a large volume. Although robust and reliable, these magnets require significant electrical power, in the MW range, and can thus be costly to operate, especially in DC mode. [...]

Characterization of Hysteretic Behavior of a FeCo Magnet for the Design of a Novel Ion Gantry
/ Felcini, E (CNAO, Milan) ; Pullia, M (CNAO, Milan) ; Sabbatini, L (LNF, Dafne Light) ; Vannozzi, A (LNF, Dafne Light) ; Trigilio, A (LNF, Dafne Light) ; Pivi, M (MedAustron) ; De Cesaris, I (MedAustron) ; Rossi, L (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Prioli, M (LASA, Segrate) ; Schwarz, P (CERN) et al.
In the framework of the euroSIG project and within an international collaboration between CNAO, CERN, INFN, and MedAustron, the design of a novel gantry for hadron therapy based on superconducting magnets and a downstream scanning system has been undertaken. The choice of placing the scanning system downstream of the last superconducting dipole plays a crucial role in the overall layout of the gantry, having a direct impact on its radius, weight, and cost. Towards a Timepix3 Radiation Monitor for the Accelerator Mixed Radiation Field: Characterisation with Protons and Alphas from 0.6 MeV to 5.6 MeV
/ Prelipcean, Daniel (CERN ; Munich, Tech. U.) ; Lerner, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Slipukhin, Ivan (CERN ; IES, Montpellier) ; Lucsanyi, David (CERN ; IES, Montpellier) ; Sandberg, Hampus (CERN) ; Storey, James (CERN) ; Martin-Holgado, Pedro (CNA, Seville) ; Romero-Maestre, Amor (CNA, Seville) ; Morilla García, Yolanda (CNA, Seville) ; García Alía, Rubén (CERN)
A Timepix3 detector with a 300 silicon sensor has been studied as a novel radiation monitor for the mixed radiation field at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. This work describes a test campaign carried out at Centro Nacional de Aceleradores with quasi-mono energetic protons (alphas) from 0.6 (1) to 5 (5.6) MeV, where orthogonal irradiations are used to obtain an energy calibration, and a low-energy angular scan to estimate the front dead layer thickness of the sensor.
