Compact tracking calorimeters for the detection of low-energy cosmic-ray (anti-)nuclei
/ Losekamm, Martin J (Munich, Tech. U. ; ORIGINS, Garching ; ESTEC, Noordwijk) ; Eckert, Liesa (Tech. U., Munich (main)) ; Hinderberger, Peter (Munich, Tech. Low-energy cosmic and solar radiation serves as a probe for investigations in astrophysics and heliophysics, and at the same time constitutes a risk to the spacecraft and crew of deep-space exploration missions. We present compact tracking calorimeters made from scintillating-plastic fibers and silicon photomultipliers that can determine the charge and energy of individual cosmic-ray nuclei with energies in the MeV-to-GeV range. Expected Tracking Performance of the ATLAS Inner Tracker at the High-Luminosity LHC
/ Elitez, Doga (Johannes Gutenberg Universitaet Mainz (DE))
/ATLAS Collaboration
A new all-silicon tracking detector (ITk) for ATLAS is under construction to meet the demands of the HL-LHC, and updated track reconstruction performance predictions have recently been published by the ATLAS Collaboration. The new detector, designed to operate at an average of up to 200 simultaneous proton–proton interactions, will provide a wider pseudorapidity coverage, an increased granularity and will outperform the current ATLAS Inner Detector. Development and characterization of large area LGADs for space applications
/ Cavazzini, L (Trento U. ; Fond. Bruno Kessler, Trento) ; Bisht, A (Trento U.) ; Boscardin, M (Trento U.) ; Centis Vignali, M (Trento U.) ; Ficorella, F (Trento U.) ; Fernandez Garcia, M (CERN ; Cantabria Inst. of Phys.) ; Hammad Alì, O (Trento U.) ; Moll, M (CERN) ; Paternoster, G (Trento U.) ; Wiehe, M (CERN)
Low Gain Avalanche Diodes (LGADs) are silicon detectors that use the impact ionization process to achieve gain values of about O(10) and timing resolution of O(30 ps) to detect Minimum Ionizing Particles. In High Energy Physics, the state-of-the-art LGADs foreseen for timing layers feature an active thickness of 50 µm and a channel size in the order of O(1 mm$^{2}$). [...]

Characterisation of small scale MLR1 devices for ALICE ITS3
/ Sturniolo, Alessandro (Messina U. ; INFN, Catania)
/ALICE Collaboration
During the upcoming Long Shutdown 3 (scheduled for 2026–2029), the ALICE Inner Tracking System (ITS), currently at its second version (ITS2), will be further upgraded to ITS3. After the upgrade, the 3 innermost ITS2 layers (Inner Barrel, or IB) will be replaced by 3 flexible, truly cylindrical layers of stitched large-scale MAPS, produced with the TPSCo 65 nm technology. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the Machine Detector Interface (MDI) design developed for the FCC-ee Feasibility Study. It highlights novel studies related to the lightweight interaction region, including a mechanical model of the vacuum chambers, integration of the vertex detector, the MDI alignment system, and assessments of machine-induced backgrounds.
