Use of RF quadrupole structures to enhance stability in accelerator rings / Schenk, Michael (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne ; CERN) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; Li, Kevin Shing Bruce (CERN) ; Papke, Kai (CERN)
The beams required for the high luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) at CERN call for efficient mechanisms to suppress transverse collective instabilities. In addition to octupole magnets installed for the purpose of Landau damping, we propose to use radio frequency (rf) quadrupole structures to considerably enhance the aforementioned stabilising effect. Second-order Transit Time Factors for a Two Gap Resonator / Fraser, MA
The HIE-ISOLDE linac at CERN will operate independently phased quarter-wave resonators (QWRs) in order to accelerate radioactive ion beams (RIBs), with mass to charge states in the range 2.5 < A/q < 4.5, from 1.2 MeV/u up to an energy of at least 10 MeV/u. [...]

Stochastic solutions in a conservative dynamic system / Gumowski, I ; Mira, C
It is known that solutions of autonomous fourth order conservative dynamic systems, or second order non autonomous dynamic systems, with periodic coefficients can be described by an autonomous second order point mapping (a second order recurrence or surface transformation). The recurrence considered in this paper, which arises in the study of particle dynamics in accelerators and storage rings, is x/sub n+1/=y /sub n/+F(x/sub n/), y/sub n+1/=-x/sub n/+F(x/sub n+1/), F(0)=0 with F (x)= mu x+(1- mu )x/sup alpha /, -1< mu <1, alpha =2 and 3. Second-order contributions to the structure functions in deep inelastic scattering III The singlet / González-Arroyo, A ; López, C
For pt.II see ibid., vol.159, p.512 (1979). Pointlike QCD predictions for the singlet part of the structure functions are given up to next- to-leading order of perturbation theory. [...]

On bifurcations related to the case of degenerate exceptions of a second order conservative recurrence / Gumowski, I
A second order conservative recurrence with quadratic or cubic nonlinearity is considered. The nature of the bifurcations related to the case of degenerate exceptions phi =0 and phi = pi of a centre is studied. [...]

Second-order contributions to the structure functions in deep inelastic scattering II Comparison with experiment for the non- singlet contributions to e, mu -nucleon scattering / González-Arroyo, A ; López, C ; Ynduráin, F J
For pt.I see ibid, vol.B153 p.161 (1979). Quantum chromodynamics predictions for the non-singlet structure functions of ep and mu p inclusive scattering are tested against experiment. [...]

Spline function approximations to the solution of singular Volterra integral equations of the second kind / El-Tom, M E A
An arbitrarily high-order method for the approximate solution of singular Volterra integral equations of the second kind is presented. The approximate solution is a spline function of degree m, deficiency (m-1), i.e. [...]

The locus of second-order realizable pole locations exhibiting unity gain at zero frequency and three decibels in unit radian frequency / Chohan, V C
A locus of realizable second-order pole locations of an all-pole transfer function is derived and illustrated such that the function exhibits unity gain at d.c. and 3 dB at omega =1 rad/s. [...]
