From Hot to Cold: Advanced Materials and Processes for NbSn Based Magnets
/ Brem, André (PSI, Villigen) ; Duda, Michal (PSI, Villigen) ; Müller, Colin (PSI, Villigen) ; Garcia, Henrique (PSI, Villigen) ; Hug, Christoph (PSI, Villigen) ; Daly, Michael (PSI, Villigen) ; Martins Araujo, Douglas (PSI, Villigen) ; Kosse, Jaap (PSI, Villigen) ; Otten, Simon (Twente U., Enschede) ; Kario, Anna (Twente U., Enschede) et al.
We worked out an approach for obtaining “clean” magnets by introducing oxygen during the reaction heat treatment (RHT) of a single glass fiber insulated Nb3Sn Rutherford cable in a channel. A reduction of the RRR by 16% was measured while the glass fiber insulation and support structure was visually clean after the RHT. [...]

Proof-of-principle e+ source for future colliders
/ Vallis, N (PSI, Villigen ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Craievich, P (PSI, Villigen) ; Schär, M (PSI, Villigen) ; Zennaro, R (PSI, Villigen) ; Auchmann, B (PSI, Villigen ; CERN) ; Braun, H H (PSI, Villigen) ; Besana, M I (PSI, Villigen) ; Duda, M (PSI, Villigen) ; Fortunati, R (PSI, Villigen) ; Garcia-Rodrigues, H (PSI, Villigen) et al.
The PSI Positron Production (P3 or P-cubed) experiment is a e+ source and capture system with the potential to increase by an order of magnitude the state-of-the-art e+ yield normalized to the drive linac energy, a highly desirable goal for future colliders. The experiment is framed in the FCC-ee injector study and will be hosted at SwissFEL, located at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland. [...]

The magnet development (MagDev) laboratory at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) has designed the subscale stress-managed common-coils (subSMCC1) 2-in-1 dipole magnet as part of the CHART (Swiss Accelerator Research and Technology) contribution to the CERN HFM (High-Field Magnet) programme. This R&D; vehicle is part of the CHART/MagDev high-field roadmap. [...]

Electromechanical Design of Nb3Sn Stress Managed Asymmetric Common-Coils
/ Araujo, D (PSI, Villigen) ; Auchmann, B (PSI, Villigen ; CERN) ; Brem, A (PSI, Villigen) ; Michlmayr, T (PSI, Villigen) ; Haziot, A (CERN) ; Ravaioli, E (CERN)
Stress-management of Nb3Sn coils offers a promising approach for high-field magnets by reducing conductor stress. The combination of stress-management and the common-coils magnet type simplifies manufacturing processes, such as utilizing the coil former in reaction and impregnation tooling. [...]
