The first superconducting final focus quadrupole prototype of the FCC-ee study / Thabuis, Adrien (CERN) ; Koratzinos, Michael (CERN) ; Kirby, Glyn (CERN) ; Liebsch, Melvin (CERN) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN)
A single aperture Canted-Cosine-Theta (CCT) quadrupole magnet, made of NbTi superconductors, has been developed for the final focus region of the FCC-ee study. The conductor layout is optimised to mitigate edge effects on one of the two sides of the magnet that typically lead to undesired higher-order multipoles. [...]

First operational experience with data-driven hysteresis compensation for the main dipole magnets of the CERN SPS / Lu, Anton (CERN ; Vienna, Tech. U.) ; Kain, Verena (CERN) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN) ; Di Capua, Vincenzo (CERN) ; Schenk, Michael (CERN) ; Zannini, Carlo (CERN)
Magnetic hysteresis, eddy currents, and manufacturing imperfections pose significant challenges for beam operation in multi-cycling synchrotrons. Addressing the dynamic dependency of magnetic fields on cycling history is a current limitation for control room tools using existing models. [...]

Alignment of a Solenoid System by Means of a Translating-Coil Magnetometer / Pentella, Mariano (CERN) ; Kjellqvist, Ville Mattias Mattsson (CERN) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN) ; Russenschuck, Stephan (CERN) ; von Freeden, L (CERN)
The electron cooler operating at the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) at CERN is at the end of its life cycle. The electron cooler, operated for over 40 years, has been used to decelerate anti-proton beams having an energy of about 5.3 MeV. [...]

Curved-Canted-Cosine-Theta (CCCT) Dipole Prototype Development at CERN / Haziot, Ariel (CERN) ; Kirby, Glyn (CERN) ; Dallocchio, Alessandro (CERN) ; Devred, Arnaud (CERN) ; Foussat, Arnaud (CERN) ; Gentini, Luca (CERN) ; Mangiarotti, Franco J (CERN) ; Pentella, Mariano (CERN) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN) ; Pincot, Francois-Olivier (CERN) et al.
Due to its flexibility in generating advanced field harmonic corrections and potential for low cost compared to traditional designs, the Canted Cosine Theta (CCT) configuration is particularly interesting for compact particle accelerators and gantries for medical applications. This article presents the design of a curved demonstrator named Fusillo, a Canted Cosine Theta Nb-Ti dipole magnet that is being developed at CERN, featuring a large aperture of 236 mm, a small bending radius of 1 m, a bending angle of 90$^{\circ }$, and multi-harmonic field correction, with a 3.61 T conductor peak field. A Translating-Coil Magnetometer for the Magnetic Measurements of the HL-LHC High-Order Corrector Magnets at Room Temperature / Pentella, Mariano (CERN) ; Dalane, Eivind (CERN) ; De Matteis, Ernesto (LASA, Segrate) ; Gautheron, Emma L (CERN) ; Mariotto, Samuele (LASA, Segrate) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN) ; Prin, Herve (CERN) ; Prioli, Marco (LASA, Segrate) ; Russenschuck, Stephan (CERN) ; Statera, Marco (LASA, Segrate) et al.
This article describes the design and development of a translating-coil magnetometer for the room-temperature magnetic measurements of the superferric, high-order corrector magnets for the high-luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN (HL-LHC). The measurement system consists of a set of induction coils, tangentially positioned on a measurement head. [...]

As part of the High Field Magnet technology development carried out at CERN, demonstrators are under construction to explore the full potential of Nb 3 Sn. The Racetrack Model Magnet (RMM) is one of them, building upon the successful Enhanced Racetrack Model Coil (eRMC) eRMC1a magnet which reached 16.5 T peak field or 16.3 T bore field at 1.9 K. [...]

Boundary element method reconstruction of two‐dimensional magnetic‐field maps from measured boundary data in accelerator magnets / Biccioli, Leonardo (Milan, Polytech.) ; Di Rienzo, Luca (Milan, Polytech.) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN) ; Russenschuck, Stephan (CERN)
Rotating-coil magnetometers are standard devices for measuring integrated magnetic fields of accelerator magnets. The coil intercepts the magnetic flux at a radius given by the dimensions of the measurement shaft that comprises a set ofinduction coils. For magnets of a rectangular aperture with a large aspect ratio (larger than 3:1) the cylindrical domain will coveronly a portion of the magnet aperture. [...]

Data-driven modeling of nonlinear materials in normal-conducting magnets / Sorti, Stefano (CERN) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN) ; Russenschuck, Stephan (CERN) ; Braghin, Francesco (Milan U.)
Accurate numerical modeling of normal-conducting accelerator magnets requires a reliable characterization of the iron saturation and hysteresis as well as a precise knowledge of the magnet geometry as built. Computations of the field quality are not easily achieving the accuracy required by the accelerator operation, particularly for eddy-current effects in fast-ramping magnets. [...]
