Nuclear modification of $\Upsilon$ states in pPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV / CMS Collaboration
Production cross sections of $\Upsilon$(1S), $\Upsilon$(2S), and $\Upsilon$(3S) states decaying into ${\mu^{+}\mu^{-}}$ in proton-lead (pPb) collisions are reported using data collected by the CMS experiment at ${\sqrt {\smash [b]{s_{_{\mathrm {NN}}}}}} = $ 5.02 TeV. A comparison is made with corresponding cross sections obtained with pp data measured at the same collision energy and scaled by the Pb nucleus mass number. [...]

Search for heavy resonances decaying to ZZ or ZW and axion-like particles mediating nonresonant ZZ or ZH production at $\sqrt{s} = $ 13 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A search has been performed for heavy resonances decaying to ZZ or ZW and for axion-like particles (ALPs) mediating nonresonant ZZ or ZH production, in final states with two charged leptons (${\ell} = $ e, $\mu$) produced by the decay of a Z boson, and two quarks produced by the decay of a Z, W, or Higgs bosonH. The analysis is sensitive to resonances with masses in the range 450 to 1800 GeV. [...]

Measurement of the charge asymmetry of electrons from the decays of $W$ bosons produced in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV / CDF Collaboration
At the Fermilab Tevatron proton-antiproton ($p\bar{p}$) collider, high-mass electron-neutrino ($e\nu$) pairs are produced predominantly in the process $p \bar{p} \rightarrow W(\rightarrow e\nu) + X$. The asymmetry of the electron and positron yield as a function of their pseudorapidity constrain the slope of the ratio of the $u$- to $d$-quark parton distributions versus the fraction of the proton momentum carried by the quarks. Precision luminosity measurement in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016 at CMS / CMS Collaboration
The measurement of the luminosity recorded by the CMS detector installed at LHC interaction point 5, using proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}= $ 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016, is reported. The absolute luminosity scale is measured for individual bunch crossings using beam-separation scans (the van der Meer method), with a relative precision of 1.2% and 1.0% in 2015 and 2016, respectively. First measurement of large area jet transverse momentum spectra in heavy-ion collisions / CMS Collaboration
Jet production in lead-lead (PbPb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV is studied with the CMS detector at the LHC, using PbPb and pp data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of 404 $\mu$b$^{-1}$ and 27.4 pb$^{-1}$, respectively. Jets with different areas are reconstructed using the anti-$k_{\mathrm{T}}$ algorithm by varying the distance parameter $R$. [...]

The first evidence for X(3872) production in relativistic heavy ion collisions is reported. The X(3872) production is studied in lead-lead (PpPb) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of ${\sqrt {\smash [b]{s_{_{\mathrm {NN}}}}}} = $ 5.02 TeV per nucleon pair, using the decay chain ${\mathrm{X}(3872)} \to \mathrm{J}/\psi\,\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\to \mu^{+}\mu^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$. Optimising longitudinal and lateral calorimeter granularity for software compensation in hadronic showers using deep neural networks / Neubüser, Coralie (INFN, Trento) ; Kieseler, Jan (CERN) ; Lujan, Paul (Canterbury U.)
We investigate the effect of longitudinal and transverse calorimeter segmentation on event-by-event software compensation for hadronic showers. To factorize out sampling and electronics effects, events are simulated in which a single charged pion is shot at a homogenous lead glass calorimeter, split into longitudinal and transverse segments of varying size. Measurements of the second Fourier harmonic coefficient ($v_2$) of the azimuthal distributions of prompt and nonprompt ${\mathrm{D^0}}$ mesons (the latter coming from beauty hadron decays) produced in pp and pPb collisions are presented. The data samples are collected by the CMS experiment at nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energies of 13 and 8.16 TeV, respectively. [...]
