/ Campbell, J.M. (Fermilab) ; Diefenthaler, M. (Jefferson Lab) ; Hobbs, T.J. (Fermilab ; IIT, Chicago) ; Höche, Stefan (Fermilab) ; Isaacson, Joshua (Fermilab) ; Kling, Felix (DESY) ; Mrenna, Stephen (Fermilab) ; Reuter, J. (DESY) ; Alioli, S. (Milan Bicocca U. ; INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Andersen, J.R. (Durham U., IPPP) et al.
We provide an overview of the status of Monte-Carlo event generators for high-energy particle physics. Guided by the experimental needs and requirements, we highlight areas of active development, and opportunities for future improvements. [...]

Constraints for nuclear PDFs from the LHCb D-meson data
/ Eskola, Kari J. (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki U.) ; Helenius, Ilkka (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki U.) ; Paakkinen, Petja (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki U.) ; Paukkunen, Hannu (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki U.)
We quantify the impact of LHCb D-meson measurements at $\sqrt{s}=5 \, {\rm TeV}$ on the EPPS16 and nCTEQ15 nuclear PDFs. In our study, the theoretical description of D-meson production is based on the recently developed SACOT-$m_{\rm T}$ variant of the general-mass variable-flavour-number formalism, and the impact on PDFs is estimated via reweighting methods. Nuclear suppression in inelastic nucleon-nucleon cross section
/ Helenius, Ilkka (speaker) (University of Jyväskylä)
In high-energy heavy-ion collisions the standard procedure to turn the measured hard-process yields into centrality dependent cross sections is to use normalization factors calculated with the Monte-Carlo Glauber model. Canonically it is assumed that a necessary input, the inelastic nucleon-nucleon cross section, is unmodified wrt. [...]

Predictions for Cold Nuclear Matter Effects in $p+$Pb Collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 8.16$ TeV
/ Albacete, Javier L. (CAFPE, Granada ; Granada U., Theor. Phys. Astrophys.) ; Arleo, François (Ecole Polytechnique) ; Barnaföldi, Gergely G. (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Bíró, Gábor (Wigner RCP, Budapest ; Eotvos U.) ; d'Enterria, David (CERN) ; Ducloué, Bertrand (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Eskola, Kari J. (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Ferreiro, Elena G. (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Gyulassy, Miklos (Wigner RCP, Budapest ; Columbia U. ; LBNL, NSD ; CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. Phys.) ; Harangozó, Szilvester Miklós (Wigner RCP, Budapest ; Eotvos U.) et al.
Predictions for cold nuclear matter effects on charged hadrons, identified light hadrons, quarkonium and heavy flavor hadrons, Drell-Yan dileptons, jets, photons, gauge bosons and top quarks produced in $p+$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 8.16$ TeV are compiled and, where possible, compared to each other. Predictions of the normalized ratios of $p+$Pb to $p+p$ cross sections are also presented for most of the observables, providing new insights into the expected role of cold nuclear matter effects. Predictions made in Albacete {\it et al} prior to the LHC $p+$Pb run at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5$ TeV are compared to currently available data. Some predictions shown here have been updated by including the same experimental cuts as the data. [...]

Modeling the Impact Parameter Dependence of the nPDFs With EKS98 and EPS09 Global Fits
/ Helenius, Ilkka (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Eskola, Kari J. (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Honkanen, Heli (Penn State U.) ; Salgado, Carlos A. (Santiago de Compostela U. ; Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE ; CERN)
So far the nuclear PDFs (nPDFs) in the global DGLAP fits have been taken to be spatially independent. In this work, using the $A$-dependence of the globally fitted sets EPS09 and EKS98, we have determined the spatial dependence of the nPDFs in terms of powers of the nuclear thickness functions. [...]
