The GeantV project: preparing the future of simulation / Amadio, G (Sao Paulo State U.) ; Apostolakis, J (CERN) ; Bandieramonte, M (Catania Astrophys. Observ.) ; Bhattacharyya, A (Bhabha Atomic Res. Ctr.) ; Bianchini, C (Sao Paulo State U. ; Mackenzie Presbiteriana U.) ; Brun, R (CERN) ; Canal, Ph (Fermilab) ; Carminati, F (CERN) ; Duhem, L (Intel, Santa Clara) ; Elvira, D (Fermilab) et al.
Detector simulation is consuming at least half of the HEP computing cycles, and even so, experiments have to take hard decisions on what to simulate, as their needs greatly surpass the availability of computing resources. New experiments still in the design phase such as FCC, CLIC and ILC as well as upgraded versions of the existing LHC detectors will push further the simulation requirements. [...]

ROOT 6 and beyond: TObject, C++14 and many cores. / Bellenot, B (CERN) ; Canal, Ph (Fermilab) ; Couet, O (CERN) ; Ganis, G (CERN) ; Mato, P (CERN) ; Moneta, L (CERN) ; Naumann, A (CERN) ; Piparo, D (CERN)
Following the release of version 6, ROOT has entered a new area of development. It will leverage the industrial strength compiler library shipping in ROOT 6 and its support of the C++11/14 standard, to significantly simplify and harden ROOT's interfaces and to clarify and substantially improve ROOT's support for multi-threaded environments. [...]

Cling: The new interactive interpreter for ROOT 6 / Vasilev, V (CERN) ; Canal, Ph (Fermilab) ; Naumann, A (CERN) ; Russo, P (Fermilab)
Cling is an interactive C++ interpreter, built on top of Clang and LLVM compiler infrastructure. Like its predecessor Cint, Cling realizes the read-print-evaluate-loop concept, in order to leverage rapid application development. [...]
