Large-Scale Atom Interferometry for Fundamental Physics / Buchmueller, Oliver (Imperial Coll., London ; Oxford U.) ; Ellis, John (King's Coll. London) ; Schneider, Ulrich (Cambridge U.)
Atom interferometers measure quantum interference patterns in the wave functions of cold atoms that follow superpositions of different space-time trajectories. These can be sensitive to phase shifts induced by fundamental physics processes such as interactions with ultralight dark matter or the passage of gravitational waves. [...]

Prospective Sensitivities of Atom Interferometers to Gravitational Waves and Ultralight Dark Matter / Badurina, Leonardo (King's Coll. London) ; Buchmueller, Oliver (Imperial Coll., London) ; Ellis, John (King's Coll. London ; CERN ; NICPB, Tallinn) ; Lewicki, Marek (Warsaw U.) ; McCabe, Christopher (King's Coll. London) ; Vaskonen, Ville (Barcelona, IFAE)
We survey the prospective sensitivities of terrestrial and space-borne atom interferometers (AIs) to gravitational waves (GWs) generated by cosmological and astrophysical sources, and to ultralight dark matter. We discuss the backgrounds from gravitational gradient noise (GGN) in terrestrial detectors, and also binary pulsar and asteroid backgrounds in space-borne detectors. [...]

Physical theories that depend on many parameters or are tested against data from many different experiments pose unique challenges to statistical inference. Many models in particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology fall into one or both of these categories. [...]

Searching for long-lived particles beyond the Standard Model at the Large Hadron Collider / Alimena, Juliette (Ohio State U.) ; Beacham, James (Duke U.) ; Borsato, Martino (Heidelberg U.) ; Cheng, Yangyang (Cornell U., LNS) ; Cid Vidal, Xabier (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Cottin, Giovanna (Adolfo Ibanez U. ; Chile U., Catolica ; Taiwan, Natl. Taiwan U.) ; De Roeck, Albert (CERN) ; Desai, Nishita (Tata Inst.) ; Curtin, David (Toronto U.) ; Evans, Jared A. (Cincinnati U.) et al.
Particles beyond the Standard Model (SM) can generically have lifetimes that are long compared to SM particles at the weak scale. When produced at experiments such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, these long-lived particles (LLPs) can decay far from the interaction vertex of the primary proton-proton collision. [...]

Simplified Models for Displaced Dark Matter Signatures / Buchmueller, Oliver (Imperial Coll., London) ; De Roeck, Albert (CERN ; U. Antwerp (main)) ; Hahn, Kristian (Northwestern U.) ; McCullough, Matthew (CERN) ; Schwaller, Pedro (U. Mainz, PRISMA) ; Sung, Kevin (Northwestern U.) ; Yu, Tien-Tien (CERN)
We propose a systematic programme to search for long-lived neutral particle signatures through a minimal set of displaced searches requiring significant missing transverse energy (dMETs). Our approach is to extend the well-established dark matter simplified models to include displaced vertices. [...]

Recommendations of the LHC Dark Matter Working Group: Comparing LHC searches for heavy mediators of dark matter production in visible and invisible decay channels / Albert, Andreas (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Backović, Mihailo (Louvain U., CP3) ; Boveia, Antonio (Ohio State U.) ; Buchmueller, Oliver (Imperial Coll., London) ; Busoni, Giorgio (Melbourne U.) ; De Roeck, Albert (Antwerp U. ; CERN ; Gottingen U.) ; Doglioni, Caterina (Lund U.) ; DuPree, Tristan (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Fairbairn, Malcolm (King's Coll. London) ; Genest, Marie-Hélène (LPSC, Grenoble) et al.
Weakly-coupled TeV-scale particles may mediate the interactions between normal matter and dark matter. If so, the LHC would produce dark matter through these mediators, leading to the familiar "mono-X" search signatures, but the mediators would also produce signals without missing momentum via the same vertices involved in their production.
