Superconductors for fusion: a roadmap
/ Mitchell, Neil (Euratom, St. Paul Lez Durance) ; Zheng, Jinxing (Hefei, Inst. Plasma Phys.) ; Vorpahl, Christian (EFDA-CSU, Garching) ; Corato, Valentina (ENEA, Frascati) ; Sanabria, Charlie (Unlisted, US) ; Segal, Michael (Unlisted, US) ; Sorbom, Brandon (Unlisted, US) ; Slade, Robert (Unlisted, GB) ; Brittles, Greg (Unlisted, GB) ; Bateman, Rod (Unlisted, GB) et al.
With the first tokamak designed for full nuclear operation now well into final assembly (ITER), and a major new research tokamak starting commissioning (JT60SA), nuclear fusion is becoming a mainstream potential energy source for the future. A critical part of the viability of magnetic confinement for fusion is superconductor technology. [...]

Introduction of CORC®wires: highly flexible, round high-temperature superconducting wires for magnet and power transmission applications
/ Weiss, Jeremy D (Unlisted, US, CO ; Colorado U.) ; Mulder, Tim (CERN ; Twente U., Enschede) ; ten Kate, Herman J (CERN ; Twente U., Enschede) ; van der Laan, Danko C (Unlisted, US, CO ; Colorado U.)
Conductor on Round Core (CORC®) technology has achieved a long sought-after benchmark by enabling the production of round, multifilament, (RE)Ba2Ca3O7-x coated conductors with practical current densities for use in magnets and power applications. Recent progress, including the demonstration of engineering current density beyond 300 Amm-2 at 4.2 K and 20 T, indicates that CORC® cables are a viable conductor for next generation high field magnets. Development of NEG Coating for RHIC Experimental Beamtubes
/ Weiss, Daniel ; He, Ping ; Hseuh Hsiao Chaun ; Todd, Robert J
As RHIC beam intensity increases beyond original scope, pressure rises in some regions have been observed. The luminosity limiting pressure rises are associated with electron multi-pacting, electron stimulated desorption and beam induced desorption. [...]

Summary on Titanium Nitride Coating of SNS Ring Vacuum Chambers
/ Todd, Robert J ; He, Ping ; Hseuh Hsiao Chaun ; Weiss, Daniel
The inner surfaces of the 248 m Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) accumulator ring vacuum chambers are coated with ~100 nm of titanium nitride (TiN) to reduce the secondary electron yield (SEY) of the chamber walls. There are approximately 100 chambers and kicker modules, some up to 5 m in length and 36 cm in diameter, coated with TiN. [...]

Upgrade of RHIC Vacuum Systems for High Luminosity Operation
/ Hseuh Hsiao Chaun ; Mapes, Michael ; Smart, Loralie ; Todd, Robert J ; Weiss, Daniel
With increasing ion beam intensity during recent RHIC operations, pressure rises of several decades were observed at most room temperature sections and at a few cold sections. The pressure rises are associated with electron multi-pacting, electron stimulated desorption and beam ion induced desorption and have been one of the major intensity and luminosity limiting factors for RHIC. Construction and Power Test of the Extraction Kicker Magnet for the Spallation Neutron Source Accumulator Ring
/ Pai, Chien ; Hahn, Harald ; Hseuh Hsiao Chaun ; Meng, Wuzheng ; Mi, Jian-Lin ; Raparia, Deepak ; Sandberg, Jon ; Todd, Robert J ; Tsoupas, Nicholaos ; Tuozzolo, Joseph et al.
Two extraction kicker magnet assemblies that contain seven individual pulsed magnet modules each will kick the proton beam vertically out of the SNS accumulator ring into the aperture of the extraction lambertson septum magnet. The proton beam then travels to the 1.4 MW SNS target assembly. [...]
