Ultrafast Radiographic Imaging and Tracking: An overview of instruments, methods, data, and applications / Wang, Zhehui (Los Alamos) ; Leong, Andrew F.T. (Los Alamos) ; Dragone, Angelo (SLAC) ; Gleason, Arianna E. (SLAC) ; Ballabriga, Rafael (CERN) ; Campbell, Christopher (Los Alamos) ; Campbell, Michael (CERN) ; Clark, Samuel J. ; Da Vià, Cinzia (Manchester U.) ; Dattelbaum, Dana M. (Los Alamos) et al.
Ultrafast radiographic imaging and tracking (U-RadIT) use state-of-the-art ionizing particle and light sources to experimentally study sub-nanosecond dynamic processes in physics, chemistry, biology, geology, materials science and other fields. These processes, fundamental to nuclear fusion energy, advanced manufacturing, green transportation and others, often involve one mole or more atoms, and thus are challenging to compute by using the first principles of quantum physics or other forward models. First measurements characterizing dosimetric properties of a dosimetry system designed for the purpose of active personal dosimetry for photons with mean energies from 12.4 to 1250 keV according to Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) requirements are presented. The system consists of three Dosepix detectors, which is a hybrid, pixelated, photon-counting X-ray detector. [...]

First investigations regarding dosimetric properties of the hybrid, pixelated, photon-counting Dosepix detector in the direct beam of a pulsed photon field (RQR8) for the personal dose equivalent $H\mathrm{_p(10)}$ are presented. The influence quantities such as pulse duration and dose rate were varied, and their responses were compared to the legal limits provided in PTB-A 23.2. [...]

Asic developments for radiation imaging applications: The medipix and timepix family / Ballabriga, Rafael (CERN) ; Campbell, Michael (CERN) ; Llopart, Xavier (CERN)
Hybrid pixel detectors were developed to meet the requirements for tracking in the inner layers at the LHC experiments. With low input capacitance per channel (10–100 fF) it is relatively straightforward to design pulse processing readout electronics with input referred noise of ~100 e-rms and pulse shaping times consistent with tagging of events to a single LHC bunch crossing providing clean ‘images’ of the ionising tracks generated. Medipix3RX: Characterizing the Medipix3 Redesign With Synchrotron Radiation / Gimenez, Eva N (Diamond Light Source) ; Ballabriga, Rafael (CERN) ; Blaj, Gabriel (CERN) ; Campbell, Michael (CERN) ; Dolbnya, Igor (Diamond Light Source) ; Frodjh, Erik (CERN) ; Horswell, Ian (Diamond Light Source) ; Llopart, Xavier (CERN) ; Marchal, Julien (Diamond Light Source) ; McGrath, John (Diamond Light Source) et al.
The Medipix3RX is the latest version of the Medipix3 photon counting ASICs, which implements two new operational modes, with respect to the Medipix2 ASIC, aimed at eliminating charge shared events (referred to as Charge Summing Mode (CSM)) and at providing spectroscopic information (referred to as Colour Mode (CM)). The Medipix3RX is a redesign of the Medipix3v0 ASIC and corrects for the underperformance of CSM features observed in the previous version. [...]

Charge Summing in Spectroscopic X-Ray Detectors With High-Z Sensors / Koenig, Thomas (Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, ANKA) ; Procz, Simon (Freiburg U.) ; Cecilia, Angelica (Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, ANKA) ; Ballabriga, Rafael (CERN) ; Baumbach, Tilo (Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, ANKA) ; Llopart, Xavier (CERN) ; Fiederle, Michael (Freiburg U.) ; Zuber, Marcus (Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, ANKA) ; Hamann, Elias (Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, ANKA) ; Fauler, Alex (Freiburg U.) et al.
The spectroscopic performance of photon counting detectors is limited by the effects of charge sharing between neighboring pixels and the emission of characteristic X-rays. For these reasons, an event can be either missed or counted more than once. [...]
