GIOTTO: A Code for the nonlinear analysis of area preserving mappings
/ Servizi, G (Bologna U., Dept. Math.) ; Bortolotti, D (INFN, Bologna) ; Todesco, E (INFN, Bologna) ; Giovannozzi, M (CERN) ; Vrahatis, M N (Patras U.)
An interactive code for the analysis of nonlinear area-preserving mappings is described; several facilities allow the user to draw phase portraits, make zooming, and use colors. The perturbative approach of normal forms and all the standard tools for the analysis of the nonlinear dynamics (Fourier spectra, Lyapunov exponents, fixed points …) are implemented in a user-friendly graphic environment based on X-window and OSF-Motif. The Process Controller for the LHCb On-LIne Farm
/ Bonifazi, F ; Bortolotti, D ; Carbone, A ; Galli, D ; Gregori, D ; Marconi, U ; Peco, G ; Vagnoni, V
The Process Controller is a tool of the LHCb FMC (Farm Monitoring and Control System) in charge of keeping a list of applications up and running on the farm nodes. It tipically runs on a few control PCs each one watching ~200 farm nodes and performs its task by maintaining the list of scheduled applications for each controlled farm node and by interacting with the Task Manager Servers running on the farm nodes to start processes, to obtain the notification of process termination, to re-spawn the terminated processes (if requested) and to stop processes. The Power Manager for the LHCb On-Line Farm
/ Bonifazi, F ; Bortolotti, D ; Carbone, A ; Galli, D ; Gregori, D ; Marconi, U ; Peco, G ; Vagnoni, V
The Power Manager is a tool of the LHCb FMC (Farm Monitoring and Control System) which allows - in an OS-independent manner and without requiring expensive network-controlled power distributors - to switch the farm nodes on and off, and to monitor their physical condition: power status (on/off), temperatures, fan speeds and voltages. The Power Manager can operate on farm nodes whose motherboards and network interface cards implement the IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) specifications, version 1.5 or subsequent, and copes with several IPMI limitations..

The Monitor System for the LHCb on-line farm
/ Bonifazi, F ; Bortolotti, D ; Carbone, A ; Galli, D ; Gregori, D ; Marconi, U ; Peco, G ; Vagnoni, V
The aim of the LHCb on-line farm Monitor System is to keep under control all the working indicators which are relevant for the farm operation, and to set the appropriate alarms whenever an error or a critical condition comes up. Since the most stressing tasks of the farm are the data transfer and processing, relevant indicators includes the CPU and the memory load of the system, the network interface and the TCP/IP stack parameters, the rates of the interrupts raised by the network interface card and the detailed status of the running processes. The Task Manager for the LHCb On-Line Farm
/ Bonifazi, F ; Bortolotti, D ; Carbone, A ; Galli, D ; Gregori, D ; Marconi, U ; Peco, G ; Vagnoni, V
The Task Manager is a utility to start, stop and list processes on the on-line farm. Each process started by the Task Manager has a string environment variable set, named UTGID (User defined unique Thread Group Identifier) which allows to identify the process. [...]
