Forward-Backward Drell-Yan Asymmetry and PDF Determination / Abdolmaleki, H. (Unlisted) ; Accomando, E. (Unlisted) ; Bertone, V. (Unlisted) ; Fiaschi, J. (Unlisted) ; Giuli, F. (Unlisted) ; Glazov, A. (Unlisted) ; Hautmann, F. (Unlisted) ; Luszczak, A. (Unlisted) ; Moretti, S. (Unlisted) ; Novikov, I. (Unlisted) et al.
We investigate the impact of high-statistics Drell-Yan (DY) measurements at the LHC on the study of non-perturbative QCD effects from parton distribution functions (PDF). We present the results of a PDF profiling analysis based on the neutral-current DY forward-backward asymmetry, using the open source fit platform xFitter..

Production of Z'-Boson Resonances with Large Width at the LHC / Accomando, E. (Southampton U.) ; Coradeschi, F. (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Cridge, T. (University Coll. London) ; Fiaschi, J. (Munster U., ITP) ; Hautmann, F. (Antwerp U. ; Oxford U. ; Basque U., Bilbao ; CERN) ; Moretti, S. (Southampton U.) ; Shepherd-Themistocleous, C. (Rutherford) ; Voisey, C. (Cambridge U.)
Di-lepton searches for Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) Z' bosons that rely on the analysis of the Breit-Wigner (BW) line shape are appropriate in the case of narrow resonances, but likely not sufficient in scenarios featuring Z' states with large widths. Conversely, alternative experimental strategies applicable to wide Z' resonances are much more dependent than the default bump search analyses on the modelling of QCD higher-order corrections to the production processes, for both signal and background. Non-perturbative QCD effects from Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) may be constrained by using high-statistics Large Hadron Collider (LHC) data. Drell-Yan (DY) measurements in the Charged Current (CC) case provide one of the primary means to do this, in the form of the lepton charge asymmetry. [...]

Using Forward-Backward Drell-Yan Asymmetry in PDF Determinations / Fiaschi, Juri (Munster U., ITP) ; Accomando, Elena (Southampton U.) ; Hautmann, Francesco (Oxford U. ; CERN) ; Moretti, Stefano (Southampton U.) /xFitter developer’s team
We study the impact of the inclusion of Neutral Current (NC) DY data from LHC mapped in the Forward-Backward Asymmetry ($A_{\rm FB}$) observable on PDF uncertainties, using the open source platform \texttt{xFitter}. We find that $A_{\rm FB}$ enables new PDF sensitivity at current and future luminosity stages of LHC..

Long-Lived Particles at the Energy Frontier: The MATHUSLA Physics Case / Curtin, David (Toronto U.) ; Drewes, Marco (Louvain U., CP3) ; McCullough, Matthew (CERN) ; Meade, Patrick (YITP, Stony Brook) ; Mohapatra, Rabindra N. We examine the theoretical motivations for long-lived particle (LLP) signals at the LHC in a comprehensive survey of Standard Model (SM) extensions. LLPs are a common prediction of a wide range of theories that address unsolved fundamental mysteries such as naturalness, dark matter, baryogenesis and neutrino masses, and represent a natural and generic possibility for physics beyond the SM (BSM). Photon-initiated production of a di-lepton final state at the LHC: cross section versus forward-backward asymmetry studies / Fiaschi, Juri (Southampton U.) ; Accomando, Elena (Southampton U.) ; Hautmann, Francesco (Southampton U.) ; Moretti, Stefano (Southampton U.) ; Shepherd-Themistocleous, Claire H (Southampton U.)
We discuss the effect of the Photon Initiated (PI) process on the dilepton channel at the LHC. Adopting various QED PDF sets, we evaluate the contribution produced by two resolved photons which is not included in the Equivalent Photon Approximation (EPA). [...]

Search for resonances in the dilepton mass distribution in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A search for narrow resonances at high mass in the dimuon and dielectron channels has been performed by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC, using pp collision data recorded at $\sqrt{s}$=7 TeV. The event samples correspond to integrated luminosities of 40 inverse picobarns in the dimuon channel and 35 inverse picobarns in the dielectron channel. [...]

Les Houches Physics at TeV Colliders 2005, Standard Model and Higgs working group: Summary report / Buttar, C ; Dittmaier, S ; Drollinger, V ; Frixione, Stefano (INFN, Genoa) ; Nikitenko, A ; Abdullin, S W S ; Accomando, E ; Acosta, D ; Arbuzov, A ; Ball, R D et al.
This Report summarises the activities of the "SM and Higgs" working group for the Workshop "Physics at TeV Colliders", Les Houches, France, 2-20 May, 2005. On the one hand, we performed a variety of experimental and theoretical studies on standard candles (such as W, Z, and ttbar production), treating them either as proper signals of known physics, or as backgrounds to unknown physics; we also addressed issues relevant to those non-perturbative or semi-perturbative ingredients, such as Parton Density Functions and Underlying Events, whose understanding will be crucial for a proper simulation of the actual events taking place in the detectors.
