Channeling performance of bent crystals developed at CERN / Rodin, Volodymyr (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; Lechner, Anton (CERN) ; Demassieux, Quentin (CERN) ; Matheson, Eloise (CERN) ; Solis Paiva, Santiago (CERN) ; Seidenbinder, Regis (CERN) ; Aberle, Oliver (CERN) ; Perillo Marcone, Antonio (CERN) ; Calviani, Marco (CERN) et al.
Bent crystals are a mature technology used in several applications at CERN, such as the crystal-assisted collimation system for LHC ion operation and reduction of losses during the slow extraction from the SPS by shadowing the electrostatic septum. In the future, it is planned to measure electric and magnetic dipole moments of short-lived particles with a double-crystal experiment in the LHC. [...]

Characterization of bent crystals for beam collimation with 6.8 TeV proton beams at the LHC / D'Andrea, Marco (CERN) ; Aberle, Oliver (CERN) ; Abramov, Andrey (CERN) ; Bandiera, Laura (INFN, Ferrara) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) ; Cai, Rongrong (CERN ; EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne) ; Calviani, Marco (CERN) ; Demassieux, Quentin (CERN) ; Dewhurst, Kay Alana (CERN) ; Di Castro, Mario (CERN) et al.
The concept of crystal collimation exploits the peculiar properties of crystalline materials to deflect high-energy beam particles at angles orders of magnitude larger than what can be achieved with scattering by conventional materials used as primary collimators. This innovative technique is planned to be used to improve the collimation efficiency with heavy-ion beams at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and its High-Luminosity upgrade (HL-LHC). [...]

Development of bent crystal manipulation systems for beam collimation and extraction at CERN / Demassieux, Q (CERN) ; Seidenbinder, R (CERN) ; Calviani, M (CERN) ; Aberle, O (CERN) ; Salvant, B (CERN) ; Mirachi, D (CERN) ; Antuono, C (CERN) ; Matheson, E (CERN) ; Fraser, M (CERN) ; Hermes, P (CERN) et al.
Manipulating high energy beams with bent crystals has applications ranging from beam collimation to slow or direct beam extraction. These systems are now integrated parts of accelerators and studied for future experimental set-ups.With growing achievements and expectations of crystal beam manipulation, requirements for the devices that operate the crystals become more stringent. Crystal collimation is studied to improve the collimation efficiency with ion beams at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). Bent crystals are used instead of conventional primary collimators to deflect high-energy halo particles at angles orders of magnitude larger than what can be achieved with scattering by conventional materials.
