Gravitational waves from decaying sources in strong phase transitions / Caprini, Chiara (Geneva U. ; CERN) ; Jinno, Ryusuke (Kobe U.) ; Konstandin, Thomas (DESY) ; Roper Pol, Alberto (Geneva U.) ; Rubira, Henrique (Munich, Tech. U.) ; Stomberg, Isak (DESY)
We study the generation of gravitational waves (GWs) during a first-order cosmological phase transition (PT) using the recently introduced Higgsless approach to numerically evaluate the fluid motion induced by the PT. [...]

Gravitational waves from first-order phase transitions in LISA: reconstruction pipeline and physics interpretation / Caprini, Chiara (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys. ; CERN) ; Jinno, Ryusuke (Tokyo U., RESCEU) ; Lewicki, Marek (Warsaw U.) ; Madge, Eric (Weizmann Inst.) ; Merchand, Marco (Royal Inst. Phys.) ; Vaskonen, Ville (INFN, Padua ; INFN, Italy ; Unlisted, EE) /LISA Cosmology Working Group
We develop a tool for the analysis of stochastic gravitational wave backgrounds from cosmological first-order phase transitions with LISA: we initiate a template databank for these signals, prototype their searches, and forecast their reconstruction. The templates encompass the gravitational wave signals sourced by bubble collisions, sound waves and turbulence. [...]

Characterization of the gravitational wave spectrum from sound waves within the sound shell model / Roper Pol, Alberto (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys.) ; Procacci, Simona (U. Bern, AEC) ; Caprini, Chiara (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys. ; CERN)
We compute the gravitational wave (GW) spectrum sourced by sound waves produced during a first-order phase transition in the radiation-dominated epoch. The correlator of the velocity field is evaluated in accordance with the sound shell model. [...]

LISA and $\gamma$-ray telescopes as multi-messenger probes of a first-order cosmological phase transition / Roper Pol, A. (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys.) ; Neronov, A. (APC, Paris ; LPHE, Lausanne) ; Caprini, C. (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys. ; CERN) ; Boyer, T. (APC, Paris) ; Semikoz, D. (APC, Paris)
We study two possible cosmological consequences of a first-order phase transition in the temperature range of $1$ GeV to $10^3$ TeV: the generation of a stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB) within the sensitivity of the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) and, simultaneously, primordial magnetic fields that would evolve through the Universe's history and could be compatible with the lower bound from $\gamma$-ray telescopes on intergalactic magnetic fields (IGMF) at present time. The second data release from the European Pulsar Timing Array - IV. Implications for massive black holes, dark matter, and the early Universe / EPTA Collaboration
The European Pulsar Timing Array (EPTA) and Indian Pulsar Timing Array (InPTA) collaborations have measured a low-frequency common signal in the combination of their second and first data releases respectively, with the correlation properties of a gravitational wave background (GWB). Such signal may have its origin in a number of physical processes including a cosmic population of inspiralling supermassive black hole binaries (SMBHBs); inflation, phase transitions, cosmic strings and tensor mode generation by non-linear evolution of scalar perturbations in the early Universe; oscillations of the Galactic potential in the presence of ultra-light dark matter (ULDM). Gravitational wave signal from primordial magnetic fields in the Pulsar Timing Array frequency band / Roper Pol, Alberto (APC, Paris) ; Caprini, Chiara (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys. ; CERN) ; Neronov, Andrii (APC, Paris ; LASTRO Observ.) ; Semikoz, Dmitri (APC, Paris ; Moscow, INR ; Moscow Phys. Eng. Inst.)
The NANOGrav, Parkes, European, and International Pulsar Timing Array (PTA) Collaborations have reported evidence for a common-spectrum process that can potentially correspond to a stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB) in the 1--100 nHz frequency range. We consider the scenario in which this signal is produced by magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence in the early Universe, induced by a nonhelical primordial magnetic field at the energy scale corresponding to the quark confinement phase transition.
