Power hybrids for silicon modules with macro-pixel and strip sensors for the CMS Phase-2 tracker upgrade / Bogner, Alexander (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Feld, Lutz Werner (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Karpinski, Waclaw (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Klein, Katja (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Lipinski, Martin (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Irfan Oezen ; Pauls, Alexander Josef (Aachen, Tech. In the framework of the Phase-2 upgrade of the CMS tracker for the High Luminosity LHC, a power hybrid for usage in silicon sensor modules with macro-pixel and strip sensors has been developed. The power hybrid features three DC-DC converters in a two-step powering scheme, delivering three different low voltages (1.0\,V, 1.25\,V, 2.5\,V) to the module electronics. [...]

This paper describes prototyping work for service hybrids, flexible circuits that form an integral part of the silicon strip modules to be used in the CMS Phase-2 Outer Tracker. The service hybrid is responsible for power distribution, data serialization, and opto-electrical conversion. [...]

Precision measurement of the structure of the CMS inner tracking system using nuclear interactions / CMS Collaboration
The structure of the CMS inner tracking system has been studied using nuclear interactions of hadrons striking its material. Data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded in 2015 at the LHC are used to reconstruct millions of secondary vertices from these nuclear interactions. [...]

Shrinking of bumps by drawing scintillating fibres through a hot conical tool / Rodrigues Cavalcante, Ana Barbara (CBPF - Brazilian Center for Physics Research (BR)) ; Garnier, Francois (CERN) ; Gavardi, Laura (Technische Universitaet Dortmund (DE)) ; Joram, Christian (CERN) ; Kristic, Robert (CERN) ; Pierschel, Gerhard (Rheinisch-Westfaelische Tech. Hoch. (DE)) ; Schneider, Thomas (CERN)
The LHCb SciFi tracker will be based on scintillating fibres with a nominal diameter of 250 $\mu$m. A small length fraction of these fibres shows millimetre-scale fluctuations of the diameter, also known as bumps and necks. [...]

The use of scintillating plastic fibres in the SciFi tracker requires rigorous quality control. The fibre diameter and in particular local variations in form of bumps and necks have an impact on the regularity of the winding pattern and hence the spatial resolution. [...]

Description and performance of track and primary-vertex reconstruction with the CMS tracker / CMS Collaboration
A description is provided of the software algorithms developed for the CMS tracker both for reconstructing charged-particle trajectories in proton-proton interactions and for using the resulting tracks to estimate the positions of the LHC luminous region and individual primary-interaction vertices. Despite the very hostile environment at the LHC, the performance obtained with these algorithms is found to be excellent. [...]

Alignment of the CMS tracker with LHC and cosmic ray data / CMS Collaboration
The central component of the CMS detector is the largest silicon tracker ever built. The precise alignment of this complex device is a formidable challenge, and only achievable with a significant extension of the technologies routinely used for tracking detectors in the past. [...]

Track Reconstruction with Cosmic Ray Data at the Tracker Integration Facility / CMS Collaboration
The subsystems of the CMS silicon strip tracker were integrated and commissioned at the Tracker Integration Facility (TIF) in the period from November 2006 to July 2007. As part of the commissioning, large samples of cosmic ray data were recorded under various running conditions in the absence of a magnetic field. [...]
