Labview-Based Template for Enhanced Accelerator Systems Control: Software Solutions for the CERN-ISOLDE Facilities / Charrondière, Cedric (CERN) ; Andreassen, Odd (CERN) ; Benoit, Antoine (Unlisted, CH) ; Boorman, Gary (Unlisted, CH) ; Galetti, Elena (CERN) ; Heinke, Reinhard (CERN) ; Le, Line (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce (CERN) ; Rossel, Ralf (CERN) ; Rothe, Sebastian (CERN) et al.
ISOLDE is part of the experimental infrastructure with-in the CERN accelerator complex that provides radioac-tive ion beams for studies of fundamental nuclear phys-ics, astrophysics, condensed matter physics and medical applications. Complementing the available controls in-frastructure, an easy-to-use set of applications was devel-oped to allow operators to record and display signals from multiple sources, as well as to provide drivers for non-standard, custom-made instruments and specialized off-the-shelf components. Hot electron enhanced photoemission from laser fabricated plasmonic photocathodes / Martinez-Calderon, Miguel (CERN) ; Groussin, Baptiste (CERN) ; Bjelland, Victoria (CERN ; Norwegian U. Sci. Tech.) ; Chevallay, Eric (CERN) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Himmerlich, Marcel (CERN) ; Lorenz, Pierre ; Manjavacas, Alejandro ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) ; Neupert, Holger (CERN) et al.
Photocathodes are key elements in high-brightness electron sources and ubiquitous in the operation of large-scale accelerators, although their operation is often limited by their quantum efficiency and lifetime. Here, we propose to overcome these limitations by utilizing direct-laser nanostructuring techniques on copper substrates, improving their efficiency and robustness for next-generation electron photoinjectors. In‐Source High‐Resolution Spectroscopy Using an Integrated Tunable Raman Laser / Granados, Eduardo (CERN) ; Stoikos, Georgios (CERN) ; Bernerd, Cyril (CERN) ; Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN) ; Echarri, Daniel T (CERN) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Heinke, Reinhard (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN)
Tunable single-frequency lasers are the most prominent tool for high-resolution spectroscopy, allowing for the study and exploitation of the electronic structure of atoms. A significant milestone relies on the demonstration of integrated laser technology for performing such a task. [...]

Efficient Composite Colorization of Copper by Spatially Controlled Oxidation with Deep‐UV Ultrafast Lasers / Groussin, Baptiste (CERN) ; Martinez‐Calderon, Miguel (CERN) ; Beldarrain, Oihane (Navarra U.) ; Rodriguez, Ainara (Navarra U.) ; Olaizola, Santiago M (Navarra U.) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN)
Colorizing metals using micrometer and nanometer scale surface modifications has been vastly investigated and presents many advantages for applications across scientific and technological fields. By tuning the surface chemical composition or controlling its morphology, it is possible to produce a wide range of chromatic effects. [...]

Laser beam transport and stabilization considerations for the Gamma Factory proof-of-principle experiment / Granados, Eduardo (CERN) ; Dutheil, Yann (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce (CERN) ; Arduini, Gianluigi (CERN)
The Gamma Factory proof-of-principle (GF PoP) experiment consists in colliding high intensity ultrafast laser pulses with ultra-relativistic partially stripped ion beams at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS). The experiment represents the first demonstration of fast cooling of ultra- relativistic ion beams and high flux gamma ray production [...]

We report on the development, characterization, and first application of a specialized resonance ionization laser ion source for high-resolution spectroscopy applications below usual hot cavity Doppler broadening limitations, for on-line experiments at CERN-ISOLDE. The new PI-LIST ion source comprises perpendicular laser/atom beam interaction in a radio-frequency quadrupole unit directly downstream the hot atomizer cavity. [...]
