Beam Dynamics Studies and Instrumentation Tests for Bunch Length Measurements at CLEAR
/ Garolfi, Luca (CERN) ; Bergamaschi, Michele (CERN) ; Bruni, Christelle (Orsay, LAL) ; Corsini, Roberto (CERN) ; Curcio, Alessandro (CERN) ; Döbert, Steffen (CERN) ; Farabolini, Wilfrid (IRFU, Saclay ; CERN) ; Gamba, Davide (CERN) ; Gorgisyan, Ishkhan (CERN) ; Lepercq, Pierre (Orsay, LAL) et al.
A new CERN Linear Electron Accelerator for Research (named CLEAR) has been installed as a general-purpose user facility to study novel accelerating techniques, high-gradient structures, instrumentation and irradiation experiments. CLEAR is a flexible accelerator that can provide high quality bunched electron beams with a wide range of beam parameters up to an energy of 220 MeV, offering several testing capabilities. [...]

Start-to-End Beam Dynamic Simulations for PRAE
/ Vnuchenko, Anna (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Bruni, Christelle (Orsay, LAL) ; El Khaldi, Mohamed (Orsay, LAL) ; Faus-Golfe, Angeles (Orsay, LAL) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN) ; Lepercq, Pierre (Orsay, LAL) ; Vallerand, Cynthia (Orsay, LAL)
The PRAE project (Platform for Research and Applications with Electrons) aims at creating a multidisciplinary R&D; facility in the Orsay campus gathering various scientific communities involved in radiobiology, subatomic physics, instrumentation and particle accelerators around an electron accelerator delivering a high-performance beam with energy up to 70 MeV and later 140 MeV, in order to perform a series of unique measurements and future challenging R&D.; In this paper we report the first start-to-end simulations from the RF gun, going through the linac and finally to the different experimental platforms. The beam dynamics simulations have been performed using a concatenation of codes. [...]

Study and Comparison of Mode Damping Strategies for the UA9 Cherenkov Detector Tank
/ Danisi, Alessandro (CERN) ; Caspers, Fritz (CERN) ; Demma, Theo (Orsay, LAL) ; Lepercq, Pierre (Orsay, LAL) ; Losito, Roberto (CERN) ; Masi, Alessandro (CERN) ; Salvant, Benoit (CERN) ; Vollinger, Christine (CERN)
In the framework of the UA9 experiment, the Cherenkov detector is useful to measure the amount of particles deflected by a bent crystal, proving the crystal collimation principle. The tank used to host this device is taken as a case study for an in-depth analysis of different damping strategies for electromagnetic modes which otherwise would give rise to important beam-coupling impedance contributions.
