JavaFX charts: Implementation of missing features / Kruk, Grzegorz (CERN) ; Da Silva Alves, Olivier (CERN) ; Molinari, Luca (CERN)
JavaFX, the GUI toolkit included in the standard JDK, provides charting components with commonly used chart types, a simple API and wide customization possibilities via CSS. Nevertheless, while the offered functionality is easy to use and of high quality, it lacks a number of features that are crucial for scientific or controls GUIs. [...]

Best practices for efficient development of JavaFX applications / Kruk, Grzegorz (CERN) ; Da Silva Alves, Olivier (CERN) ; Molinari, Luca (CERN) ; Roux, Eric (CERN)
JavaFX, the GUI toolkit included in the standard JDK, has reached a level of maturity enabling its usage for Control Systems applications. Property bindings, built-in separation between logic (Controller) and visual part (FXML) that can be designed with Scene Builder, combined with the leverage of Java 8 features such as lambda expressions or method references, make this toolkit a very compelling choice for the creation of clean and testable GUI applications. [...]

Software packages: Status and commissioning plans / Jacquet, D (CERN) ; Baggiolini, V (CERN) ; Bau, J C (CERN) ; Buttner, M (CERN) ; Deghaye, S (CERN) ; Kruk, G (CERN) ; Roderick, C (CERN) ; Sigerud, K (CERN) ; Sliwinski, W (CERN) ; Wenninger, J (CERN) et al.
The many modifications of the software packages that have been done during LS1 will be reported. Based on the issues and requirements that have been presented in the 2012 Evian workshop [1], the solutions implemented and their impact on operation will be explained, the status of these different upgrade projects will be presented. How to Successfully Renovate a Controls System? - Lessons Learned from the Renovation of the CERN Injectors’ Controls Software / Kruk, G (CERN) ; Deghaye, S (CERN) ; Kulikova, O (CERN) ; Lezhebokov, V (CERN) ; Pace, M (CERN) ; Pera Mira, P (CERN) ; Roux, E (CERN) ; Wozniak, J Pawel (CERN)
Renovation of the control system of the CERN LHC injectors was initiated in 2007 in the scope of the Injector Controls Architecture (InCA) project. One of its main objectives was to homogenize the controls software across CERN accelerators and reuse as much as possible the existing modern sub-systems, such as the settings management used for the LHC. Plug-in Based Analysis Framework for LHC Post-Mortem Analysis / Gorbonosov, R (CERN) ; Kruk, G (CERN) ; Zerlauth, M (CERN) ; Baggiolini, V (CERN)
Plug-in based software architectures [1] are extensible, enforce modularity and allow several teams to work in parallel. But they have certain technical and organizational challenges, which we discuss in this paper. [...]

The CERN Accelerator Logging Service- 10 Years in Operation: A Look at the Past, Present and Future / Roderick, C (CERN) ; Burdzanowski, L (CERN) ; Kruk, G (CERN)
During the 10 years since it's first operational use, the scope and scale of the CERN Accelerator Logging Service (LS) has evolved significantly: from an LHC specific service expected to store 1TB / year; to a CERN-wide service spanning the complete accelerator complex (including related sub-systems and experiments) currently storing more than 50 TB / year on-line for some 1 million signals. Despite the massive increase over initial expectations the LS remains reliable, and highly usable - this can be attested to by the 5 million daily / average number of data extraction requests, from close to 1000 users. [...]
