The $\beta$2p -decay mechanism of $^{31}$Ar / ISOLDE Collaboration
We have measured the $\beta$-decay of $^{31}$Ar with a high granularity setup sensitive to multiparticle decay branches. Two-proton emission is observed from the isobaric analog state in $^{31}$Cl to the four lowest states in $^{29}$P and furthermore from a large number of states fed in Gamow-Teller transitions. [...]

The mechanism of $\beta$-delayed two-proton emission in $^{31}$Ar / García-Borge, M J ; Axelsson, L ; Äystö, J ; Fraile-Prieto, L M ; Fynbo, H O U ; Honkanen, J A ; Hornshøj, P ; Jokinen, A ; Jonson, B ; Martel, I et al.
$\beta$-delayed two-proton decays, observed in several nuclei along the proton dripline, have only been studied in detail in very few cases. We have studied the decay of $^{31}$Ar, as it was suspected that this nucleus has several $\beta$-2p branches with quite large branching ratios. [...]

Determination of the spin of $^{31}$Ar / ISOLDE Collaboration
The $\beta$-delayed proton emission from the lightest Ar-isotopes has been recorded with a high-granularity, large solid-angle Si-detector set-up. Proton energy shifts due to $\beta$-recoil have been measured. [...]

The silicon microstrip tracker for CMS / Pandoulas, D ; Albergo, S ; Angarano, M M ; Azzi, P ; Babucci, E ; Bacchetta, N ; Bader, A J ; Bagliesi, G ; Bartalini, P ; Basti, A et al.
The CMS silicon strip tracker involves about 70 m/sup 2/ of instrumented silicon, with approximately 18500 microstrip detectors read out by 5*10/sup 6/ electronics channels. It has to satisfy a set of stringent requirements imposed by the environment and by the physics expected at the LHC: low cell occupancy and good resolution, radiation hardness aided by adequate cooling, low mass combined with high stability. [...]

R & D for the CMS silicon tracker / Feld, L ; Albergo, S ; Angarano, M M ; Azzi, P ; Babucci, E ; Bacchetta, N ; Bader, A J ; Bagliesi, G ; Barr, A J ; Bartalini, P et al.
The CMS silicon tracker, consisting of about 70 m/sup 2/ of silicon microstrip devices, has to be operated for at least 10 years in a harsh radiation environment. The main implications of this environment on the detector design are summarized and an overview of the expected performance is given. [...]

A beam telescope providing precision track measurements as reference for other detectors has been upgraded in the CERN H2 test beam. The apparatus was completely rebuilt from the detector wafers and front- end electronics to the data acquisition system. [...]

$^{31}$Ar examined : new limit on the $\beta$-delayed three-proton branch / ISOLDE Collaboration
We have remeasured the decay of $^{31}$Ar with a setup sensitive to multiparticle decay branches and obtained a new limit of 1.1 × $10^{-3}$(99%C.L.) on the $\beta$-delayed three-proton branch between the isobaric analog state in $^{31}$Cl and the ground state of $^{28}$Si. This a factor of 17 below the previously reported first observation of $\beta$-delayed three-proton emission in $^{31}$Ar. [...]
