The Control and Configuration Software of the ATLAS Data Acquisition System: Upgrades for LHC Run 2 / Aleksandrov, Igor (Joint Institute for Nuclear Research) ; Anders, Gabriel (CERN) ; Avolio, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Caprini, Mihai (National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN-HH)) ; Corso-Radu, Alina (University of California, Irvine) ; D'ascanio, Matteo (CERN) ; De Castro Vargas Fernandes, Julio (Universidade Federal do Rio De Janeiro, COPPE/EE/IF) ; Kazarov, Andrei (Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute) ; Kolobara, Bernard (CERN) ; Lankford, Andrew (University of California, Irvine) et al.
The Trigger and Data Acquisition (TDAQ) system of the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN is composed of a large number of distributed hardware and software components which in a coordinated manner provide the data-taking functionality of the overall system. The Controls and Configuration (CC) software offers services to configure, control and monitor the TDAQ system. [...]

Upgrade of the ATLAS Control and Configuration Software for Run 2 / Avolio, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Aleksandrov, Igor (Joint Institute for Nuclear Research) ; Anders, Gabriel (CERN) ; Caprini, Mihai (National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN-HH)) ; Corso-Radu, Alina (University of California, Irvine) ; D'ascanio, Matteo (CERN) ; De Castro Vargas Fernandes, Julio (Universidade Federal do Rio De Janeiro, COPPE/EE/IF) ; Dova, Maria-Teresa (Universidad National de La Plata (UNLP)) ; Kazarov, Andrei (Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute) ; Klopov, Nikolai (Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute) et al.
The ATLAS data acquisition (DAQ) system is controlled and configured via a software infrastructure that takes care of coherently orchestrating the data taking. While the overall architecture, established at the end of the 90’s, has proven to be solid and flexible, many software components have undergone a complete redesign or re-implementation in 2013/2014 in order to fold-in the additional requirements that appeared in the course of LHC’s Run 1, to profit from new technologies and to re-factorise and cleanup software. The Error Reporting in the ATLAS TDAQ system / Kolos, S (University of California Irvine, USA) ; Kazarov, A (CERN) ; Papaevgeniou, L (CERN)
The ATLAS Error Reporting feature, which is used in the TDAQ environment, provides a service that allows experts and shift crew to track and address errors relating to the data taking components and applications. This service, called the Error Reporting Service(ERS), gives software applications the opportunity to collect and send comprehensive data about errors, happening at run-time, to a place where it can be intercepted in real-time by any other system component. [...]

A Dynamic Test Management Framework for the ATLAS Experiment / Avolio, G (CERN) ; Corso-Radu, A (University of California Irvine, USA) ; Kazarov, A (PNPI, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation) ; Lehmann Miotto, G (CERN) ; Papaevgeniou, L (CERN) ; Soloviev, I (University of California Irvine, USA) ; Unel, G (University of California Irvine, USA)
The ATLAS experiment explores the fundamental constituents of matter and their interactions at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Its Data Acquisition (DAQ) is a large distributed and inhomogeneous system: it consists of thousands of interconnected computers and electronics devices that operate coherently to readout and select the relevant Physics data. [...]
