CERN’s East Experimental Area: A New Modern Physics Facility
/ Evrard, Sebastien (CERN) ; Banerjee, Dipanwita (CERN) ; Bernhard, Johannes (CERN) ; Carvalho, Filipa (CERN) ; Danzeca, Salvatore (CERN) ; Lazzaroni, Michael (CERN) ; Rae, Bastien (CERN) ; Romagnoli, Giulia (CERN)
CERN’s East Area has hosted a variety of fixed-target experiments since the 1950s, using four beamlines from the Proton Synchrotron (PS). Over the past 4 years, the experimental area - CERN’s second largest - has undergone a complete makeover. [...]

Collider aspects of flavor physics at high Q

This review presents flavour related issues in the production and decays of heavy states at LHC, both from the experimental side and from the theoretical side. We review top quark physics and discuss flavour aspects of several extensions of the Standard Model, such as supersymmetry, little Higgs model or models with extra dimensions. [...]

Charged-Lepton-Flavour Violation in the CMSSM in View of the Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment
/ Carvalho, D.F. (CFIF, Lisbon) ; Ellis, John R. (CERN) ; Gomez, M.E. (CFIF, Lisbon) ; Lola, S. (CERN)
We use the BNL E821 measurement of g - 2, the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, to normalize, within a supersymmetric GUT framework, constrained MSSM (CMSSM) predictions for processes that violate charged-lepton flavour conservation, including mu to e gamma, mu to e conversion and K^0_L to mu e. We illustrate our analysis with two examples of lepton mass matrix textures motivated by data on neutrino oscillations. [...]

On the relevance of efficient, integrated computer and network monitoring in HEP distributed online environment
/ Carvalho, D F ; Gavillet, P ; Delgado, V ; Albert, J N ; Bellas, N ; Javello, J ; Miere, Y ; Ruffinoni, D ; Smith, G
Large Scientific Equipments are controlled by Computer System whose complexity is growing driven, on the one hand by the volume and variety of the information, its distributed nature, thhe sophistication of its trearment and, on the over hand by the fast evolution of the computer and network market. Some people call them generically Large-Scale Distributed Data Intensive Information Systems or Distributed Computer Control Systems (DCCS) for those systems dealing more with real time control.
