Acceleration beyond lowest order event generation. An outlook on further parallelism within MadGraph5_aMC@NLO
/ Wettersten, Zenny (CERN ; Vienna, OAW) ; Mattelaer, Olivier (Louvain U., CP3) ; Roiser, Stefan (CERN) ; Schöfbeck, Robert (Vienna, OAW) ; Valassi, Andrea (CERN)
An important area of high energy physics studies at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) currently concerns the need for more extensive and precise comparison data. Important tools in this realm are event reweighing and evaluation of more precise next-to-leading order (NLO) processes via Monte Carlo event generators, especially in the context of the upcoming High Luminosity LHC. This note gives an overview of the tools for predicting expectations in the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT) at the tree level and one loop available through event generators. Methods of event reweighting, the separate simulation of squared matrix elements, and the simulation of the full SMEFT process are compared in terms of statistical efficacy and potential biases..

The Effective Vector Boson Approximation in high-energy muon collisions
/ Ruiz, Richard (Cracow, INP) ; Costantini, Antonio (Louvain U., CP3) ; Maltoni, Fabio (Louvain U., CP3 ; INFN, Bologna) ; Mattelaer, Olivier (Louvain U., CP3)
Due to the inclination for forward gauge radiation, lepton colliders beyond a few TeV are effectively electroweak (EW) boson colliders, suggesting the treatment of EW bosons as constituents of high-energy leptons. In the context of a muon collider, we revisit the validity of W and Z parton distribution functions (PDFs) at leading order in 2 → n process. [...]

High-energy lepton colliders with a centre-of-mass energy in the multi-TeV range are currently considered among the most challenging and far-reaching future accelerator projects. Studies performed so far have mostly focused on the reach for new phenomena in lepton-antilepton annihilation channels. [...]

Event generators simulate particle interactions using Monte Carlo techniques, providing the primary connection between experiment and theory in experimental high energy physics. These software packages, which are the first step in the simulation worflow of collider experiments, represent approximately 5 to 20% of the annual WLCG usage for the ATLAS and CMS experiments. [...]
