The results of developing a compact version of the Precision Laser Inclinometer (CPLI) with the reduced overall dimensions of 20 × 20 × 20 cm and weight of 10 kg are presented. Experimental data on detected angular oscillations of the Earth’s surface at the JINR site are obtained. [...]

Recent advances and perspectives of the high precision laser metrology
/ Batusov, V (Dubna, JINR) ; Budagov, J (Dubna, JINR) ; Glagolev, V (Dubna, JINR) ; Lyablin, M (Dubna, JINR) ; Shirkov, G (Dubna, JINR) ; Gayde, J Ch (CERN) ; Di Girolamo, B (CERN) ; Mainaud Durand, H (CERN) ; Mergelkuhl, D (CERN) ; Nessi, M (CERN) et al.
The laser-based metrology presents new means and opens possibilities in solving
tasks where achievement of a high precision survey is of the principal signiˇcance
necessity.
The extended laser ˇducial line (coordinate axis) is necessary for precision
alignment of basic structure units of large-scale accelerators, for precision assembly
of subdetectors when mounting large spectrometric complexes, for online control of
space stability of particle detectors during the data taking period.
The high sensitivity laser inclinometers open the new possibilities for ground
motion control and for accelerator (collider) beam space stabilization essential for
achievement of stable high intensity (luminosity) at the interaction area.
The investigation has been performed at the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear
Problems, JINR..

Position-Sensitive Measurements of a Single-Mode Laser Beam Spot Using the Dividing Plate Method
/ Budagov, Yu A (Dubna, JINR) ; Glagolev, V V (Dubna, JINR) ; Lyablin, M V (Dubna, JINR) ; Pishchalnikova, E V (Dubna, JINR) ; Kuzkin, A M (Dubna, JINR) ; Trubnikov, G V (Dubna, JINR) ; Di Girolamo, B (CERN)
New position-sensitive experimental results have been obtained using the Dividing Plates method to detect the displacement of a single-mode laser beam spot of various diameters. Measurements show that with this method it is possible to attain sensitivities down to 0.18 µm$^{–1}$ for a laser beam spot diameter of 8.8 µm displaced over 2.4 µm diameter zone, defined as the area where measurements non-linearities are within 1%. The Precision Laser Inclinometer
/ Di Girolamo, Beniamino (CERN) ; Boudagov, Julian A (Dubna, JINR) ; Lyablin, Michail V (Dubna, JINR) ; Vlachos, Sotiris (Natl. Tech. U., Athens)
Earth surface movements, like earthquakes or human-produced (cultural) noise, can induce a degradation of the instantaneous luminosity of particle accelerators or even sudden beam losses. In the same way the presence of seismic and cultural noise limits the detection capabilities of interferometric antennas used for the observations of gravitational waves. [...]

Minimization of the Long Term Noises of the 24-Bit ADC for the Precision Laser Inclinometer
/ Azaryan, N (Dubna, JINR) ; Budagov, J (Dubna, JINR) ; Vernikovskya, V (Dubna, JINR ; Gomel State Tech. U.) ; Lyablin, M (Dubna, JINR) ; Pluzhnikov, A (Dubna, JINR) ; Smykovsky, O (Dubna, JINR ; Gomel State Tech. U.) ; Di Girolamo, B (CERN) ; Gayde, J Ch (CERN) ; Mergelkuhl, D (CERN)
The daylong noises of the 24 bits ADC DT9824 and DT9828 in the laboratory room conditions and in the thermo-stabilized and radio isolated laboratory and the noises dependence on the single measurement duration have been researched. Significantly, by factor 240× the ADC resolution in the temperature stabilized and radio isolated conditions was improved. [...]

Position-Sensitive Photoreceivers: Sensitivity and Detectable Range of Displacements of a Focused Single-Mode Laser Beam
/ Azaryan, N S (Dubna, JINR) ; Budagov, J A (Dubna, JINR) ; Lyablin, M V (Dubna, JINR) ; Pluzhnikov, A A (Dubna, JINR) ; Di Girolamo, B (CERN) ; Gayde, J Ch (CERN) ; Mergelkuhl, D (CERN)
Analysis is given to advantages and drawbacks of methods for measuring laser beam center coordinates and determining a range and amount of linear beam displacements using a quadrant photoreceiver, CCD matrix, and dividing plates. It is shown that the quadrant photoreceiver method and the dividing plate method are most sensitive to displacements of a single-mode laser beam. [...]
