Upgrade of the PS booster-to-ISOLDE beam transfer line to facilitate an increase in proton driver energy
/ Fraser, Matthew (CERN) ; Bernardes, Ana (CERN) ; Newborough, Antony (CERN) ; del Alamo, Daniel (CERN) ; Grenier-Boley, Edouard (CERN) ; Pozzi, Fabio (CERN) ; Di Giovanni, Gian Piero (CERN) ; Corso, Jean-Pierre (CERN) ; Vollaire, Joachim (CERN) ; Ferreira Somoza, Jose (CERN) et al.
Following the successful completion of the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project, since 2021 the Proton Synchrotron (PS) Booster has served the LHC injector chain with protons at an increased kinetic energy of 2 GeV. An upgrade of the ISOLDE (Isotope Separator On-Line DEvice) facility has long been considered to produce radioactive ion beams with a higher energy proton driver beam. [...]

Evolution of the nuclear spin-orbit splitting explored via the $^{32}$Si($d$,$p$)$^{33}$Si reaction using SOLARIS
/ Chen, J. (SUSTech, Shenzhen ; Argonne) ; Kay, B.P. (Argonne) ; Hoffman, C.R. (Argonne) ; Tang, T.L. (Argonne) ; Tolstukhin, I.A. (Argonne) ; Bazin, D. (Michigan State U.) ; Lubna, R.S. (Michigan State U.) ; Ayyad, Y. (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Beceiro-Novo, S. (Michigan State U.) ; Coombes, B.J. (Australian Natl. U., Canberra) et al.
The spin-orbit splitting between neutron 1$p$ orbitals at $^{33}$Si has been deduced using the single-neutron-adding ($d$,$p$) reaction in inverse kinematics with a beam of $^{32}$Si, a long-lived radioisotope. Reaction products were analyzed by the newly implemented SOLARIS spectrometer at the reaccelerated-beam facility at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory. [...]

Modified in medium
/ Freeman, Sean (CERN ; Manchester U.)
The strong interaction is modifed in the
presence of nuclear matter. An experiment
has now quantifed with high precision and
accuracy the reduction of the order parameter
of the system’s chiral symmetry, which is
partially restored..

Evolution of nuclear structure in the neutron-rich Nb96,97,99 isotopes: Evidence for shape coexistence in N=58Nb99
/ Kumar, V (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Chapman, R (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; O'Donnell, D (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Ollier, J (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Orlandi, R (JAEA, Ibaraki) ; Smith, J F (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Spohr, K -M (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Torres, D A (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Wady, P (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Tandel, S K (Shiv Nadar U.) et al.
Excited states of the neutron-rich niobium isotopes Nb96,97,98,4196,97,98,99 have been populated in two experiments which used fusion-fission and multinucleon binary grazing reactions to populate high-spin yrast states. In the multinucleon-transfer experiment, a 530-MeV beam of Zr96 ions was incident on a thin Sn124 target; projectile-like ejectiles were detected and identified using the PRISMA magnetic spectrometer and the associated γ rays were detected using the CLARA array of Ge detectors. Needs, trends, and advances in scintillators for radiographic imaging and tomography
/ Wang, Zhehui (Los Alamos) ; Dujardin, Christophe (ILM, Lyon) ; Freeman, Matthew S. (Los Alamos) ; Gehring, Amanda E. (Los Alamos) ; Hunter, James F. (Los Alamos) ; Lecoq, Paul (CERN) ; Liu, Wei (Mayo Clinic) ; Melcher, Charles L. (U. Tennessee, Knoxville) ; Morris, C.L. (Los Alamos) ; Nikl, Martin (Prague, Inst. Phys.) et al.
Scintillators are important materials for radiographic imaging and tomography (RadIT), when ionizing radiations are used to reveal internal structures of materials. Since its invention by Röntgen, RadIT now come in many modalities such as absorption-based X-ray radiography, phase contrast X-ray imaging, coherent X-ray diffractive imaging, high-energy X- and $\gamma-$ray radiography at above 1 MeV, X-ray computed tomography (CT), proton imaging and tomography (IT), neutron IT, positron emission tomography (PET), high-energy electron radiography, muon tomography, etc. [...]
