The timing performance of the Timepix4 application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) bump-bonded to a $100\;\mu\textrm{m}$ thick n-on-p silicon sensor is presented. A picosecond pulsed infrared laser was used to generate electron-hole pairs in the silicon bulk in a repeatable fashion, controlling the amount, position and time of the stimulated charge signal. Electromagnetic processes of charged particles interaction with oriented crystals provide a wide variety of innovative applications such as beam steering, crystal-based extraction/collimation of leptons and hadrons in an accelerator, a fixed-target experiment on magnetic and electric dipole moment measurement, X-ray and gamma radiation source for radiotherapy and nuclear physics and a positron source for lepton and muon colliders, a compact crystalline calorimeter as well as plasma acceleration in the crystal media. One of the main challenges is to develop an up-to-date, universal and fast simulation tool to simulate these applications. [...]

A muon collider would enable the big jump ahead in energy reach that is needed for a fruitful exploration of fundamental interactions. The challenges of producing muon collisions at high luminosity and 10 TeV centre of mass energy are being investigated by the recently-formed International Muon Collider Collaboration. [...]

The development of a single-photon detector based on a vacuum tube, transmission photocathode, microchannel plate and CMOS pixelated read-out anode is presented. This imager will be capable of detecting up to 1 billion photons per second over an area of 7 cm$^{2}$, with simultaneous measurement of position and time with resolutions of about 5 microns and few tens of picosecond, respectively. Positron sources: from conventional to advanced accelerator concepts-based colliders / Chaikovska, I. (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Chehab, R. (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Kubytskyi, V. (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Ogur, S. (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Ushakov, A. (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Variola, A. (INFN, Rome) ; Sievers, P. (CERN) ; Musumeci, P. (UCLA) ; Bandiera, L. (INFN, Ferrara) ; Enomoto, Y. (KEK, Tsukuba) et al.
Positron sources are the key elements for the future and current lepton collider projects such as ILC, CLIC, SuperKEKB, FCC-ee, Muon Collider/LEMMA, etc., introducing challenging critical requirements for high intensity and low emittance beams in order to achieve high luminosity. In fact, due to their large production emittance and constraints given by the target thermal load, the main collider parameters such as the peak and average current, the emittances, the damping time, the repetition frequency and consequently the luminosity are determined by the positron beam characteristics. FPGA-based real-time data processing for accelerating reconstruction at LHCb / LHCb Collaboration
In Run-3, beginning in 2022, the LHCb software trigger will start reconstructing events at the LHC average crossing rate of 30 MHz. Within the upgraded DAQ system, LHCb established a testbed for new heterogeneous computing solutions for real-time event reconstruction, in view of future runs at even higher luminosities. [...]

A study of muon-electron elastic scattering in a test beam / MUonE Collaboration
In 2018, a test run with muons in the North Area at CERN was performed, running parasitically downstream of the COMPASS spectrometer. The aim of the test was to investigate the elastic interactions of muons on atomic electrons, in an experimental configuration similar to the one proposed by the project MUonE, which plans to perform a very precise measurement of the differential cross-section of the elastic interactions. An investigation on stochastic deflection of high-energy charged particles in a bent crystal was carried out. In particular, we investigated the deflection efficiency under axial confinement of both positively and negatively charged particles as a function of the crystal orientation, the choice of the bending plane, and of the charge sign. After multiple tests towards elastic expansion of CNAF compute power via Cloud resources (provided by Azure, Aruba and in the framework of the HNSciCloud project), and building on the experience gained with the production quality extension of the Tier-1 farm on remote owned sites, the CNAF team, in collaboration with experts from the ALICE, ATLAS, CMS, and LHCb experiments, has been working to put in production a solution of an integrated HTC+HPC system with the PRACE CINECA center, located nearby Bologna.
