Measurement of integrated gradient and field quality on the first Q2 magnets for HL-LHC / Fiscarelli, Lucio (CERN) ; Todesco, Ezio (CERN) ; Mangiarotti, Franco (CERN) ; Deferne, Guy (CERN) ; Pentella, Mariano (CERN) ; Rogacki, Piotr (CERN) ; Russenschuck, Stephan (CERN) ; Izquierdo Bermudez, Susana (CERN)
The Q2 insertion quadrupoles for the High Luminosity upgrade of the LHC are currently being produced and tested. The test of the first units provides valuable information about the field quality of superconducting accelerator magnets built from Nb3Sn coils. [...]

Advanced examination of Nb$_{3}$Sn coils and conductors for the LHC luminosity upgrade: a methodology based on computed tomography and materialographic analyses / Santillana, I Aviles (CERN) ; Sgobba, S (CERN) ; Crouvizier, M D (CERN) ; Devred, A (CERN) ; Izquierdo, G Arnau (CERN) ; Bulat, B (CERN) ; Moros, A (CERN) ; Izquierdo Bermudez, S (CERN) ; Milanese, A (CERN) ; Savary, F (CERN) et al.
The future of particle accelerators is strongly linked to the development of high—field magnets. The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is currently developing Nb$_{3}$Sn-based magnets for the high-luminosity upgrade of the large hadron collider (HL-LHC), to fully exploit its potential and surpass the intrinsic performance limitations of Nb–Ti-based magnets. Towards MQXFB Series Coils / Lusa, Nicholas (CERN) ; Devred, Arnaud (CERN) ; Ferradas Troitino, José (CERN) ; Izquierdo Bermudez, Susana (CERN) ; Milanese, Attilio (CERN) ; Quassolo, Penelope Matilde (CERN) ; Straarup, Simon (CERN) ; Todesco, Ezio (CERN)
The cold powering test of the first two MQXFB prototype quadrupoles, the Nb$_3$Sn inner triplet magnets to be installed in the HL-LHC, has found performance limitations. This prompted putting on hold the coil fabrication, to review in depth the full manufacturing process, while in parallel performing destructive inspections on selected coils. [...]

Study on the Thermal Contraction Behavior of State-of-the-Art Nb$_3$Sn Superconducting Magnet Coils in the Longitudinal, Azimuthal, and Radial Direction / Höll, Stefan (CERN) ; Guinchard, Michael (CERN) ; Izquierdo Bermudez, Susana (CERN) ; Frutos, Óscar Sacristán De (CERN)
To meet the requirements of the HL-LHC upgrade in terms of stronger magnetic fields, the new focusing MQXF quadrupoles make use of the enhanced superconducting properties of  Nb$_3$Sn compared to its predecessor NbTi. However, the change in material leads to an increased brittleness and strain sensitivity of the magnet coils, which raises the importance of an adequate mechanical design to guarantee the performance of the magnet. Assembly and Test Results of the RMM1a,b Magnet, a CERN Technology Demonstrator Towards Nb3Sn Ultimate Performance / Gautheron, Emma (CERN) ; Bordini, Bernardo (CERN) ; Campagna, Guillaume (CERN) ; Felice, Hélène (CERN) ; Fleiter, Jerome (CERN) ; Guinchard, Michael (CERN) ; Izquierdo Bermudez, Susana (CERN) ; Mugnier, Sylvain (CERN) ; Perez, Juan Carlos (CERN) ; Petrone, Carlo (CERN) et al.
As part of the High Field Magnet technology development carried out at CERN, demonstrators are under construction to explore the full potential of Nb 3 Sn. The Racetrack Model Magnet (RMM) is one of them, building upon the successful Enhanced Racetrack Model Coil (eRMC) eRMC1a magnet which reached 16.5 T peak field or 16.3 T bore field at 1.9 K. [...]

Design of a Common Coil Magnet Using Existing Racetrack Model Coils (RMC) / García-Matos, J A (Madrid, CIEMAT ; Madrid, Escuela Tec. Sup. Ing. Ind. ; GIFT, Spain) ; Jardim, C Martins (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Toral, F (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Bermudez, S Izquierdo (CERN) ; Perez, J C (CERN)
The common coil configuration was one of the layouts studied as a candidate to build the required high-field magnets for future colliders, specifically FCC-hh at CERN. The design of the structure to support the large electromagnetic forces and the protection system have been identified as the main challenges. [...]
