The "A Large Ion Collider Experiment" (ALICE), one of the four large experiments at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), is responsible for studying the physics of strongly interacting matter and the quark-gluon plasma. In order to ensure the full success of ALICE operation and data taking during the Large Hadron Collider Runs 3 and 4, a list of tasks identified as Service Work is established and maintained. [...]

The ALICE Membership system
/ de Souza Pereira, Jomar Júnior (Rio de Janeiro Federal U.) ; Telesca, Adriana (CERN) ; Seixas, Jose Manuel (Rio de Janeiro Federal U.) ; Coura Torres, Rodrigo (Rio de Janeiro Federal U.)
With over 2000 active members from 174 institutes over 41 countries in the world, the ALICE experiment is one of the 4 large experiments at CERN. With such numerous interactions, the experiment management needs a way to record members’ participation history and their current status, such as employment, institutes, appointments, clusters and funding agencies, as well as to automatically generate the physics paper author list considering the experiment publication policy. Inst.) ; Agarwal, Apar (Calcutta, VECC) ; Aglieri Rinella, Gianluca (CERN) ; Aglietta, Luca (Turin U. ; INFN, Turin) ; Agnello, Michelangelo (Turin Polytechnic) ; Agrawal, Neelima (Bologna U. ; INFN, Bologna) ; Ahammed, Zubayer (Calcutta, VECC) ; Ahmad, Shakeel (Aligarh Muslim U.) ; Ahn, Sang Un (KISTI, Daejeon) et al.
The $p_{\rm T}$-differential cross section of $\omega$ meson production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV at midrapidity ($|y| < 0.5$) was measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC, covering an unprecedented transverse-momentum range of $1.6 < p_{\rm T} < 50$ GeV/$c$. The meson is reconstructed via the $\omega \rightarrow \pi^+ \pi^- \pi^0$ decay channel. [...]

CERN has a very dynamic environment and faces challenges such as information centralization, communication between the experiments’ working groups, and the continuity of workflows. The solution found for those challenges is automation and, therefore, the Glance project, an essential management software tool for all four large LHC experiments. [...]

Considering CERN's prosperous environment, developing groundbreaking research in physics and pushing technology's barriers, CERN members participate in several talks and conferences every year. However, given that the ATLAS experiment has around 6000 members and more than one could be qualified to present the same talk, the experiment developed metrics to prioritize them. [...]

The production of (multi-)strange hadrons is measured at midrapidity in proton-proton (pp) collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV as a function of the local charged-particle multiplicity in the pseudorapidity interval ${|\eta|<0.5}$ and of the very-forward energy measured by the ALICE Zero-Degree Calorimeters (ZDC). The latter provides information on the effective energy available for particle production in the collision once subtracted from the centre-of-mass energy. [...]

/ALICE
The nuclear modification factor $R_\mathrm{AA}$ of charm jets, identified by the presence of a D$^0$ meson among the jet constituents, has been measured for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 5.02$ TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The D$^0$ mesons and their charge conjugates are reconstructed from the hadronic decay D$^0\to \mathrm K^{-}\pi^{+}$. [...]
