The existence of non-zero neutrino masses points to the likely existence of multiple SM neutral fermions. When such states are heavy enough that they cannot be produced in oscillations, they are referred to as Heavy Neutral Leptons (HNLs). [...]

Feebly-interacting particles: FIPs 2020 workshop report / Agrawal, Prateek (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Bauer, Martin (Durham U., IPPP) ; Beacham, James (Duke U.) ; Berlin, Asher (New York U., CCPP ; New York U.) ; Boyarsky, Alexey (Leiden U.) ; Cebrian, Susana (Zaragoza U.) ; Cid-Vidal, Xabier (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; d'Enterria, David (CERN) ; De Roeck, Albert (CERN) ; Drewes, Marco (Louvain U., CP3) et al.
With the establishment and maturation of the experimental programs searching for new physics with sizeable couplings at the LHC, there is an increasing interest in the broader particle and astrophysics community for exploring the physics of light and feebly-interacting particles as a paradigm complementary to a New Physics sector at the TeV scale and beyond. FIPs 2020 has been the first workshop fully dedicated to the physics of feebly-interacting particles and was held virtually from 31 August to 4 September 2020. [...]

An allowed window for heavy neutral leptons below the kaon mass / Bondarenko, Kyrylo (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Boyarsky, Alexey (Leiden U.) ; Klaric, Juraj (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Mikulenko, Oleksii (Leiden U. ; Taras Shevchenko U.) ; Ruchayskiy, Oleg (Bohr Inst.) ; Syvolap, Vsevolod (Bohr Inst.) ; Timiryasov, Inar (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne)
The extension of the Standard Model with two gauge-singlet Majorana fermions can simultaneously explain two beyond-the-Standard-model phenomena: neutrino masses and oscillations, as well as the origin of the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the Universe. The parameters of such a model are constrained by the neutrino oscillation data, direct accelerator searches, big bang nucleosynthesis, and requirement of successful baryogenesis. [...]

We report on the status of efforts to improve the reinterpretation of searches and measurements at the LHC in terms of models for new physics, in the context of the LHC Reinterpretation Forum. We detail current experimental offerings in direct searches for new particles, measurements, technical implementations and Open Data, and provide a set of recommendations for further improving the presentation of LHC results in order to better enable reinterpretation in the future. A facility to Search for Hidden Particles at the CERN SPS: the SHiP physics case / SHiP Collaboration
This paper describes the physics case for a new fixed target facility at CERN SPS. The SHiP (Search for Hidden Particles) experiment is intended to hunt for new physics in the largely unexplored domain of very weakly interacting particles with masses below the Fermi scale, inaccessible to the LHC experiments, and to study tau neutrino physics. Constraining Extended Gamma-ray Emission from Galaxy Clusters / Han, Jiaxin (Shanghai, Astron. Observ. ; Beijing, GUCAS ; Durham U.) ; Frenk, Carlos S. (Durham U.) ; Eke, Vincent R. (Garching, Max Planck Inst.) ; Boyarsky, Alexey (Leiden U. ; BITP, Kiev) ; Malyshev, Denys (BITP, Kiev) ; Ruchayskiy, Oleg (CERN)
Cold dark matter models predict the existence of a large number of substructures within dark matter halos. If the cold dark matter consists of weakly interacting massive particles, their annihilation within these substructures could lead to diffuse GeV emission that would dominate over the annihilation signal of the host halo. Spectral and spatial variations of the diffuse gamma-ray background in the vicinity of the Galactic plane and possible nature of the feature at 130 GeV / Boyarsky, Alexey (Leiden U. ; BITP, Kiev) ; Malyshev, Denys (BITP, Kiev) ; Ruchayskiy, Oleg (CERN)
We study the properties of the diffuse gamma-ray background around the Galactic plane at energies 60 - 200 GeV. We find that the spectrum of this emission possesses spacial variations having significant features (excesses and dips) as compared to the average smooth (power law) component. [...]

Long-range magnetic fields in the ground state of the Standard Model plasma / Boyarsky, Alexey (Leiden U. ; IPT, Lausanne ; BITP, Kiev) ; Ruchayskiy, Oleg (CERN) ; Shaposhnikov, Mikhail (IPT, Lausanne)
In thermal equilibrium the ground state of the plasma of Standard Model particles is determined by temperature and exactly conserved combinations of baryon and lepton numbers. We show that at non-zero values of the global charges a translation invariant and homogeneous state of the plasma becomes unstable and the system transits into a new state, containing a large-scale magnetic field. We analyze the properties of dark matter halos in the cold-plus-warm dark matter cosmologies (CWDM). We study their dependence on the fraction and velocity dispersion of the warm particle, keeping the free-streaming scale fixed. [...]

Restrictions on the lifetime of sterile neutrinos from primordial nucleosynthesis / Ruchayskiy, Oleg (CERN) ; Ivashko, Artem (Leiden U. ; Taras Shevchenko U.)
We analyze the influence of decaying sterile neutrinos with the masses in the range 1-140 MeV on the primordial Helium-4 abundance, explicitly solving the Boltzmann equations for all particle species, taking into account neutrino flavour oscillations, and paying special attention to systematic uncertainties. We show that the Helium abundance depends only on the sterile neutrino lifetime and not on the way the active-sterile mixing is distributed between flavours, and derive an upper bound on the lifetime.
