Manifestation of the Berry phase in the atomic nucleus 213Pb

The neutron-rich 213Pb isotope was produced in the fragmentation of a primary 1 GeV A 238U beam, separated in FRS in mass and atomic number, and then implanted for isomer decay γ-ray spectroscopy with the RISING setup at GSI. A newly observed isomer and its measured decay properties indicate that states in 213Pb are characterized by the seniority quantum number that counts the nucleons not in pairs coupled to angular momentum J=0. β decay of 6He into the α+d continuum

The rare β-decay channel of 6He into the α+d continuum was investigated at the REX-ISOLDE facility. Bunches of postaccelerated 6He ions were implanted into the optical time projection chamber (OTPC), where the decays with emission of charged particles were recorded. [...]

New spectroscopic information on 211,213Tl: A changing structure beyond the N=126 shell closure
/ Gottardo, A (INFN, Legnaro ; Padua U.) ; Valiente-Dobón, J J (INFN, Legnaro) ; Benzoni, G (INFN, Milan) ; Morales, A I (INFN, Milan) ; Gadea, A (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Lunardi, S (Padua U. ; INFN, Padua) ; Boutachkov, P (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Bruce, A M (Brighton U.) ; Górska, M (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Grebosz, J (Cracow, INP) et al.
The neutron-rich isotopes 211,213Tl, beyond the N=126 shell closure, have been studied for the first time in isomer γ-ray decay, exploiting the fragmentation of a primary uranium beam at the Fragment Separator-Rare Isotopes Investigation at GSI setup. The observed isomeric states in 211,213Tl show a deviation from the seniority-like scheme of 209Tl. [...]

The photon spectrum accompanying the orbital K-electron capture in the first forbidden unique decay of 81Kr was measured. The total radiation intensity for the photon energies larger than 50 keV was found to be 1.47(6) x 10^{-4} per K-capture. [...]
