Underlying Event studies and search for jet modifications in pp and p-Pb collisions with ALICE at the LHC
/ Mehmood Khan, Ahsan (Hua-Zhong Normal U., LQLP ; CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. Phys.)
/ALICE Collaboration
It is well-established that high-multiplicity pp and p--Pb collisions exhibit various signatures associated with the formation of QGP in heavy-ion collisions.
In this contribution, we present results obtained using Underlying Event (UE) techniques, used to measure the average number density and the average total transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) in the Transverse region with respect to the leading trigger particle, but employed in novel ways. [...]

A Large Ion Collider Experiment(ALICE) at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC) at CERN will undergo a major upgrade during the 2nd LHC Long Shutdown(LS2) scheduled in 2019~2021 that will allow to study in detail of strong interaction matter Quark-Gluon Plasma(QGP) properties. To collecting more Pb-Pb events during the Run 3 and Run 4, the replacement of the existing Inner Tracking System(ITS) with a completely new ultra-light high resolution detector based on Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors(MAPS) technique is one of the cornerstones within this upgrade program. Scaling behaviors of heavy flavor meson suppression and flow in different nuclear collision systems at the LHC
/ Li, Shu-Qing (Jining U. ; CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. Phys. ; Hua-Zhong Normal U., LQLP) ; Xing, Wen-Jing (CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. We explore the system size dependence of heavy-quark-QGP interaction by studying the heavy flavor meson suppression and elliptic flow in Pb-Pb, Xe-Xe, Ar-Ar and O-O collisions at the LHC. The space-time evolution of the QGP is simulated using a (3+1)-dimensional viscous hydrodynamic model, while the heavy-quark-QGP interaction is described by an improved Langevin approach that includes both collisional and radiative energy loss inside a thermal medium. [...]

The multiple-charm hierarchy in the statistical hadronization model
/ Andronic, Anton (Munster U.) ; Braun-Munzinger, Peter (Darmstadt, EMMI ; Heidelberg U. ; Hua-Zhong Normal U., LQLP) ; Köhler, Markus K. (Heidelberg U.) ; Mazeliauskas, Aleksas (CERN) ; Redlich, Krzysztof (Wroclaw U.) ; Stachel, Johanna (Darmstadt, EMMI ; Heidelberg U.) ; Vislavicius, Vytautas (Bohr Inst.)
In relativistic nuclear collisions the production of hadrons with light (u,d,s) quarks is quantitatively described in the framework of the Statistical Hadronization Model (SHM). Charm quarks are dominantly produced in initial hard collisions but interact strongly in the hot fireball and thermalize. [...]

Probing thermal nature of matter formed at RHIC via fluctuations
/ Gupta, Sourendu (Tata Inst.) ; Mallick, Debasish (NISER, Jatni) ; Mishra, Dipak K (Bhabha Atomic Res. Ctr.) ; Mohanty, Bedangadas (NISER, Jatni ; CERN) ; Xu, Nu (CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. Phys. ; Hua-Zhong Normal U., LQLP ; Lanzhou, Inst. Modern Phys.)
Arguments for thermalization of the QCD matter created in high-energy nuclear collisions has dominantly come from the agreement of the measured yields of produced hadrons with those from statistical thermal models. Ideally for a thermalized system, in addition to mean, the higher orders of the moments of the multiplicity distribution of produced particles should also show agreement with thermal models. [...]

A serializer ASIC and a VCSEL driver ASIC are needed for the front-end optical data transmission in the ATLAS liquid argon calorimeter readout phase-I upgrade. The baseline ASICs are the serializer LOCx2 and the VCSEL driver LOCld, designed in a 0.25-{\mu}m Silicon-on-Sapphire (SoS) CMOS technology and consumed 843 mW and 320 mW, respectively. [...]

Quarkonia production as a function of charged-particle multiplicity in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV with ALICE
/ Ding, Yanchun (CCNU, Wuhan, Inst. Part. Phys. ; Hua-Zhong Normal U., LQLP ; IP2I, Lyon)
/ALICE Collaboration
In pp collisions at LHC energies, heavy quarks are produced in initial hard scatterings and then these quarks hadronize in either open heavy-flavor hadrons or quarkonia (e.g. J/$\psi$, $\psi(2S)$, $\Upsilon$). [...]
