Modeling the Production of Charmed Particles in the Geant4 Software
/ Galoyan, A S (Dubna, JINR) ; Grichine, V M (Lebedev Inst.) ; Ribon, A (CERN) ; Uzhinsky, V V (Dubna, JINR)
/Geant4 Hadronic Working Group Collaboration
It is expected that charmed particles will be copiously produced at Future Circular Collider (FCC). Due to relatively long lifetimes of the particles, it will be necessary to consider their interactions with the surrounding materials and materials of the detector. [...]

Optimizing Geant4 Hadronic Models
/ Genser, Krzysztof (Fermilab) ; Jun, Soon Yung (Fermilab) ; Ribon, Alberto (CERN) ; Uzhinsky, Vladimir (Dubna, JINR) ; Yarba, Julia (Fermilab)
Geant4, the leading detector simulation toolkit used in high energy physics, employs a set of physics models to simulate interactions of particles with matter across a wide range of energies. These models, especially the hadronic ones, rely largely on directly measured cross-sections and inclusive characteristics, and use physically motivated parameters. [...]

Exposing a fibre-based dual-readout calorimeter to a positron beam
/ Ampilogov, N. (Bergamo U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Cometti, S. (Bergamo U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Agarwala, J. (INFN, Pavia ; Pavia U.) ; Chmill, V. (Boskovic Inst., Zagreb) ; Ferrari, R. (Boskovic Inst., Zagreb) ; Loeschcke-Centeno, A. (Sussex U.) et al.
A prototype of a dual-readout calorimeter using brass capillary tubes surrounding scintillating and clear plastic optical fibres was tested using beams of particles with energies between 10 and 100 GeV produced by the CERN SPS. The scope of the test was to characterise the performance of the tube-based detector response to positrons in terms of linearity, energy resolution, and lateral granularity. [...]

Including Calorimeter Test Beams in Geant-val—The Physics Validation Testing Suite of Geant4
/ Pezzotti, Lorenzo (CERN) ; Kiryunin, Andrey (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Konstantinov, Dmitri (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Ribon, Alberto (CERN) ; Strizenec, Pavol (Kosice, IEF)
/Geant4 Collaboration
The Geant4 simulation toolkit is currently adopted by many particle physics experiments, including those at the Large Hadron Collider and the ones proposed for future lepton and hadron colliders. In the present era of precision tests for the Standard Model and increasingly detailed detectors proposed for the future colliders scenario, Geant4 plays a key role. [...]

Offloading electromagnetic shower transport to GPUs
/ Amadio, G. (CERN) ; Apostolakis, J. (CERN) ; Buncic, P. (CERN) ; Cosmo, G. (CERN) ; Dosaru, D. (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Gheata, A. (CERN) ; Hageboeck, S. (CERN) ; Hahnfeld, J. (CERN) ; Hodgkinson, M. (Sheffield U.) ; Morgan, B. (Liverpool U.) et al.
Making general particle transport simulation for high-energy physics (HEP) single-instruction-multiple-thread (SIMT) friendly, to take advantage of accelerator hardware, is an important alternative for boosting the throughput of simulation applications. To date, this challenge is not yet resolved, due to difficulties in mapping the complexity of Geant4 components and workflow to the massive parallelism features exposed by graphics processing units (GPU).
