(Ben Gurion U. of Negev) ; Kühn, B. (Bitfabrik, Rodgau) et al.
The Target Absorbers for Neutrals (TANs) represent one of the most radioactive regions in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Seven 40 cm long fused silica rods with different dopant specifications, manufactured by Heraeus, were irradiated in one of the TANs located around the ATLAS experiment by the Beam RAte of Neutrals (BRAN) detector group. [...]

Optimal injection voltage in the LHC / Medina, L (CERN) ; Timko, H (CERN) ; Argyropoulos, T (CERN) ; Shaposhnikova, E (CERN) ; Salvachua, B (CERN) ; Wenninger, J (CERN) ; Karpov, I (CERN) ; Baudrenghien, P (CERN) ; Palm, M (CERN)
Finding the optimal rf injection voltage in the LHC is a trade-off between minimising capture and flat-bottom losses, which call for an increased voltage, and minimising rf power consumption as well as improving beam stability, both of which call for a reduced voltage. From the beam stability point of view, earlier particletracking simulations showed that the decrease of the injection voltage from 6 MV to 4 MV is beneficial. [...]

LHC Longitudinal Beam Dynamics during Run 2 / Timko, H (CERN) ; Argyropoulos, T (CERN) ; Baudrenghien, P (CERN) ; Calaga, R (CERN) ; Długosz, D (CERN) ; Müller, J F Esteban (CERN) ; Karpov, I (CERN) ; Medrano, L E Medina (CERN) ; Palm, M (CERN) ; Salvachua, B (CERN) et al.
During the LHC Run 2, many advances have been made on the beam dynamics in the longitudinal plane. The controlled longitudinal emittance blow-up used in the acceleration ramp was improved and bunch flattening was implemented for bunch length control during collisions. [...]

Beam-induced and cosmic-ray backgrounds observed in the ATLAS detector during the LHC 2012 proton-proton running period / ATLAS Collaboration
This paper discusses various observations on beam-induced and cosmic-ray backgrounds in the ATLAS detector during the LHC 2012 proton-proton run. Building on published results based on 2011 data, the correlations between background and residual pressure of the beam vacuum are revisited. [...]
