A Theory of Dark Pions / Cheng, Hsin-Chia (UC, Davis, QMAP) ; Li, Lingfeng (Hong Kong U. Sci. Tech. ; Brown U.) ; Salvioni, Ennio (CERN ; Padua U., Astron. Dept.)
We present a complete model of a dark QCD sector with light dark pions, broadly motivated by hidden naturalness arguments. The dark quarks couple to the Standard Model via irrelevant $Z$- and Higgs-portal operators, which encode the low-energy effects of TeV-scale fermions interacting through Yukawa couplings with the Higgs field. Searching for long-lived particles beyond the Standard Model at the Large Hadron Collider / Alimena, Juliette (Ohio State U.) ; Beacham, James (Duke U.) ; Borsato, Martino (Heidelberg U.) ; Cheng, Yangyang (Cornell U., LNS) ; Cid Vidal, Xabier (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Cottin, Giovanna (Adolfo Ibanez U. ; Chile U., Catolica ; Taiwan, Natl. Taiwan U.) ; De Roeck, Albert (CERN) ; Desai, Nishita (Tata Inst.) ; Curtin, David (Toronto U.) ; Evans, Jared A. (Cincinnati U.) et al.
Particles beyond the Standard Model (SM) can generically have lifetimes that are long compared to SM particles at the weak scale. When produced at experiments such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, these long-lived particles (LLPs) can decay far from the interaction vertex of the primary proton-proton collision. [...]

Simplified Models for LHC New Physics Searches / Alves, Daniele (SLAC) ; Arkani-Hamed, Nima (ed.) (Princeton, Inst. Advanced Study) ; Arora, Sanjay (ed.) (Rutgers U., Piscataway) ; Bai, Yang (ed.) (Oregon U. ; UC, Davis) ; Cheng, Hsin-Chia (ed.) (UC, Davis) et al. /LHC New Physics Working Group
This document proposes a collection of simplified models relevant to the design of new-physics searches at the LHC and the characterization of their results. Both ATLAS and CMS have already presented some results in terms of simplified models, and we encourage them to continue and expand this effort, which supplements both signature-based results and benchmark model interpretations. Accurate Mass Determinations in Decay Chains with Missing Energy: II / Cheng, Hsin-Chia (UC, Davis) ; Gunion, John F. (UC, Davis) ; Han, Zhenyu (UC, Davis) ; McElrath, Bob (CERN)
We discuss kinematic methods for determining the masses of the particles in events at a hadron collider in which a pair of identical particles is produced with each decaying via a series of on-shell intermediate beyond-the-SM (BSM) particles to visible SM particles and an invisible particle (schematically, pp -> ZZ + jets with Z -> Aa -> Bba -> Ccba -> ... -> cba... Accurate Mass Determinations in Decay Chains with Missing Energy / Cheng, Hsin-Chia (UC, Davis) ; Engelhardt, Dalit (Boston U.) ; Gunion, John F (UC, Davis) ; Han, Zhenyu (UC, Davis) ; McElrath, Bob (CERN)
Many beyond the Standard Model theories include a stable dark matter candidate that yields missing / invisible energy in collider detectors. If observed at the Large Hadron Collider, we must determine if its mass and other properties (and those of its partners) predict the correct dark matter relic density. [...]

GUT Breaking on the Lattice / Cheng, Hsin-Chia (Chicago U., EFI) ; Matchev, Konstantin T. (CERN) ; Wang, Jing (Fermilab)
We construct a supersymmetric grand unified model in the framework of a latticized extra dimension. The SU(5) symmetries on the lattice are broken by the vacuum expectation values of the link fields connecting adjacent SU(5) sites, leaving just the MSSM at low energies. [...]
