After the successful test of the first long Nb$_3$Sn quadrupole magnet (LQS01), the US LHC Accelerator Research Program (LARP) has assembled and tested a new 3.7 m-long Nb$_3$Sn quadrupole (LQS02). This magnet has four new coils made of the same conductor as LQS01 coils, and it is using the same support structure. [...]

The US-LHC accelerator research program (LARP) built and tested the first 3.7-m long Nb$_3$Sn quadrupole model of LQ series with a 90 mm bore diameter and a target field gradient of 200 T/m. The LQ series, developed in collaboration among FNAL, LBNL and BNL, is a scale up of the previously tested 1-m long technology quadrupoles of TQ series based on similar coils and two different mechanical structures (shell-based TQS and collar-based TQC), with a primary goal of demonstrating the Nb$_3$Sn accelerator magnet technology for the luminosity upgrade of LHC interaction regions. The US LHC Accelerator Research Program (LARP) consists of four US laboratories (BNL, FNAL, LBNL, and SLAC) collaborating with CERN to achieve a successful commissioning of the LHC and to develop the next generation of Interaction Region magnets. In 2004, a large aperture Nb$_3$Sn racetrack quadrupole magnet (SQ01) has been fabricated and tested at LBNL [...]

Field Quality Study of a 1-m-Long Single-Aperture 11-T Nb$_3$Sn Dipole Model for LHC Upgrades
/ Chlachidze, G (Fermilab) ; DiMarco, J (Fermilab) ; Andreev, N (Fermilab) ; Apollinari, G (Fermilab) ; Auchmann, B (CERN) ; Barzi, E (Fermilab) ; Bossert, R (Fermilab) ; Fiscarelli, L (CERN) ; Karppinen, M (CERN) ; Nobrega, F (Fermilab) et al.
FNAL and CERN are carrying out a joint R&D; program with the goal of building a 5.5-m-long twin-aperture 11-T Nb_3Sn dipole prototype that is suitable for installation in the LHC. An important part of the program is the development and test of a series of short single-aperture and twin-aperture dipole models with a nominal field of 11 T at the LHC operation current of 11.85 kA and 20% margin. Field quality measurements of the LQXB inner triplet quadrupoles for LHC
/ Velev, G V ; Bossert, Rodger Clayton ; Carcagno, R ; Di Marco, J ; Fehér, S ; Glass, H ; Kashikhin, V V ; Kerby, J ; Lamm, M J ; Makulski, A et al.
As a part of the USLHC program, Fermilab is building half of the inner triplet quadrupole magnets for the LHC. Two identical quadrupoles (MQXB) with a dipole corrector between them in a single cryogenic unit (LQXB) comprise the Q2 optical element of the final focus triplets in the interaction regions. [...]
