The IOTA ring at Fermilab is a unique machine exclusively dedicated to accelerator beam physics R&D.; The research conducted at IOTA includes topics such as nonlinear integrable optics, suppression of coherent beam instabilities, optical stochastic cooling and quantum science experiments. In this talk we report on the first results of experiments with implementations of nonlinear integrable beam optics. [...]

(US)) ; Romanov, Aleksandr (Fermi National Accelerator Lab. (US)) ; Kuklev, Nikita (The University of Chicago) ; Szustkowski, Sebastian (Northern Illinois University (US)) ; Valishev, Alexander (Fermi National Accelerator Lab. (US))
Nonlinear integrable optics is a recently proposed accelerator lattice design approach which allows to generate an amplitude dependent tune shift which is needed in high brightness accelerators to mitigate fast coherent instabilities. [...]

First results of the compensation of the beam-beam effect with DC wires in the LHC / Sterbini, Guido (CERN) ; Amorim, David (CERN ; Grenoble, INP) ; Bartosik, Hannes (CERN) ; Bertarelli, Alessandro (CERN) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Carra, Federico (CERN) ; Carver, Lee (CERN) ; Cattenoz, Gregory (CERN) ; Effinger, Ewald (CERN) et al.
The compensation of the long-range beam-beam interactions using DC wires is presently under study as an option for enhancing the machine performance in the framework of the High-Luminosity LHC Project (HL-LHC). The original idea dates back more than 15 years ago. [...]

Resonant and random excitations on the proton beam in the Large Hadron Collider for active halo control with pulsed hollow electron lenses / Fitterer, Miriam (Fermilab) ; Stancari, Giulio (Fermilab) ; Valishev, Alexander (Fermilab) ; Redaelli, Stefano (CERN) ; Valuch, Daniel (CERN)
We present the results of numerical simulations and experimental studies about the effects of resonant and random excitations on proton losses, emittances, and beam distributions in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In addition to shedding light on complex nonlinear effects, these studies are applied to the design of hollow electron lenses (HEL) for active beam halo control. [...]

Adaptive Space Charge Calculations in MADX-SC / Alexahin, Yuri (Fermilab) ; Kapin, Valery (Fermilab) ; Schmidt, Frank (CERN) ; Valishev, Alexander (Fermilab) ; Wasef, Raymond (CERN)
Since a few years MAD-X allows to simulate beam dynamics with frozen space charge à la Basseti-Erskine. The limitation of simulation with a fixed distribution is somewhat overcome by an adaptive approach that consists of updating the emittances once per turn and by recalculating the Twiss parameters after certain intervals, typically every 1,000 turns to avoid an excessive slowdown of the simulations. [...]
