Enhancing Measurement Quality in HL-LHC Magnets Testing Using Software Techniques on Digital Multimeter Cards-Based System / Reymond, Hubert (CERN) ; Andreassen, Odd (CERN) ; Charrondiere, Maryline (CERN) ; Charrondière, Cedric (CERN) ; Jankowski, Patryk (CERN)
The HL-LHC magnets play a critical role in the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider project, which aims to increase the luminosity of the LHC and enable more precise studies of fundamental physics. Ensuring the performance and reliability of these magnets requires high-precision measurements of their electrical properties during testing. [...]

A New Cryogenic Test Facility for Large and Heavy Superconducting Magnets / Serio, Luigi (CERN) ; Schnizer, Pierre (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Arnaud, Michel (CERN) ; Bertone, Caterina (CERN) ; Blanco, Enrique (CERN) ; Calcoen, Daniel (CERN) ; Charrondiere, Maryline (CERN) ; Cho, Eun Jung (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Coelingh, Gert-Jan (CERN) ; Dahlerup-Petersen, Knud (CERN) et al.
CERN has recently designed and constructed a new cryogenic facility for testing large and heavy superconducting magnets at liquid helium temperatures. The facility, erected in a large assembly hall with cranes capable of up to 100 t, provides a cooling capacity of 1.2 kW at 4.5 K equivalent, 15-kW LN$_2$ cooling and warming capabilities for up to three magnets in parallel. [...]

Performance of CERN LHC Main Dipole Magnets on the Test Bench From 2008 to 2016 / Willering, G P (CERN) ; Bajko, M (CERN) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Charifoulline, Z (CERN) ; Charrondiere, M (CERN) ; D'Angelo, G (CERN) ; Dib, G (CERN) ; Ditsch, O (CERN) ; Hagen, P (CERN) ; Le Naour, S (CERN) et al.
Abstract: Throughout 2015 and 2016, the LHC is operated with a current in the main dipoles of 10980 A, equivalent to a proton-proton collision energy of 13 TeV in the center of mass. A total of 175 training quenches were needed in 2014 in the 1232 main dipole magnets installed in the LHC at CERN to reach operational conditions. [...]

New Analysis Framework Software for the CERN Superconducting Magnet Test Facility / Gomez de la Cruz, M F (CERN) ; Andreassen, O (CERN) ; Bajas, H (CERN) ; Charrondiere, M (CERN) ; Reymond, H (CERN) ; Rijllart, A (CERN)
Since 2013, the existing but aging analysis tools that were routinely used for the large hadron collider (LHC) magnet series production measurement campaigns conducted at the CERN superconducting Magnet Test Facility (SM18) are being replaced by a novel open-data and user-driven analysis environment. This effort is running in parallel to the current development of magnet prototypes in the framework of the High Luminosity Upgrade of the CERN LHC (HL-LHC project). [...]

Test Set-Up for the Cooling of Heavy Magnets by Controlled Way Down to 77 K / Bajas, H (CERN) ; Bajko, M (CERN) ; Benda, V (CERN) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Bourgeois, G (CERN) ; Charrondiere, M (CERN) ; Chiuchiolo, A (CERN) ; Ferracin, P (CERN) ; Guinchard, M (CERN) ; Garcia, J E Muñoz (CERN) et al.
In the scope of the High Field Magnets work package of the European FP7-EuCARD project, the structure of the future dipole magnet RMC and FRESCA2 has been tested at liquid nitrogen temperature replacing the actual Nb$_{3}$Sn-based coils by aluminium dummy coils. Such test aims at measuring during the cooling the evolution of the mechanical stresses and the temperatures via compensated strain gauges and carbon-ceramic sensors placed at various locations on the structure (shell, rods, yokes, dummy coils). Assembly, Loading, and Cool‐down of the FRESCA2 Support Structure / Muñoz Garcia, J E (CERN) ; Giloux, C (CERN) ; Ziemianski, D T (CERN) ; Rondeaux, F (Saclay) ; de Rijk, G (CERN) ; Bajas, H (CERN) ; Rifflet, J M (Saclay) ; Perez, J C (CERN) ; Durante, M (Saclay) ; Charrondiere, M (CERN) et al.
This paper reports on the assembly process and cool-down to cryogenic temperature of the support structure of FRESCA2, which is a dipole magnet for upgrading the actual CERN cable test facility FRESCA. The structure of the FRESCA2 magnet is designed to provide the adequate pre-stress, through the use of keys, bladders, and an Al alloy shrinking cylinder [...]
